This is a newer version of the MLP request piece that I did for a friend last year. The last one has been moved to my scraps folder.
The reason I decided to update this piece is because of the hate notes that I received about the original. Not for the picture itself but because of the placement of some characters. Now, the reason for the ‘wrong placement’ is because I have never watched the show (apart from the crappy 80's one that my sister liked...I can still hear that god dam theme song.) I had to read countless Wiki pages to make sure that I got (or at least I thought) the right places for the characters. The person who requested it loved it and so I went onto my next project. But, like I said, after the hate notes I knew I had to do something about it. So I took out my trusty Bamboo pen and set to work trying to make things right!
All most everything in the new piece has had some kind of change. Wither it be slight changes like darkening the colour, or a complete change in design. The piece is almost completely different from the original. This really did take a lot of time to make, in fact the first rough sketches I did for this was back in August 2013 and I didn’t finish until the end of November. These new changes have also taken another two months to do. While I am not a fan of the show I do like the art style so this might not be the last MLP piece that I will do. I will say that I think the Demon...thing in the bottom left is maybe a little too evil looking.
Now I know that there are many MANY more forgotten characters that I would loved to have added but sadly I did have to draw the line somewhere. So sorry if your favourite is not here.
As for the inspiration for this piece, the main one is a Zelda fan art done a few years ago by the artist AG+ (I think) So full credit to them for their inspirational work. (If anyone knows which one I'm on about can they please post me a link to it so I can add it here.)

Wow, I sound rather unintelligent right now, don't I? Guess that's just the whole 'leave me speechless' effect comin' into play. Seriously, though... Wow. That's about all I can manage. Sorry for such a lame comment, but I'm at a loss for words. Your incredible attention to detail and overall talent baffles me. Kinda' tired, too, I suppose, but that's hardly an excuse on my part. So, I think I'll just finish up now with one more thing... This is no mere deviation; this is a meritorious masterpiece. Unique style, magnificent concept, and just everything lookin' phenomenal. Loads more to say, but I've been blown away, so I'll just leave it at that.

Also, I forgot to put this in my comment, Flutterbat looks really cool! And so does EG Sunset Shimmer non-demon form! Love the Nightmare Rarity. And I really like the Braeburn. (so awesome!) Oh, and you made the Demon Sunset Shimmer really scary and real looking.

Wowza.. Right off the bat, love the star patterns and Luna/Celet clouds, the background with Canterlot too, very cool! Cadance/Shining, very nice

One of best artworks i've ever seen realy! I mean the kind of drawing with shadows and stuff is beautiful but it's the details and the order of happenings that makes this perfect!!!

I honestly don't understand what was wrong with the first piece. In terms of character placement it made even more sense. If characters like Gilda, Flutterbat and Babs are on the antagonist side, then why isn't Diamond Tiara?
But this is still very impressive, especially when considering that you didn't even watch the show.

Well, Babs ended up realizing her mistakes and so she can be considered good, especially since she is now a member of the CMC herself. Also, Flim and Flam were in the good characters on the original, when they really tried to scam the Apple family into giving up their orchard. Those are the only problems I can see, though. The drawing itself is amazing, as is the update.

Two months to do a new version of this? wow, I can totally believe that!
Also, I have to say nice addition with Nightmare Rarity in the villains section. Also, it warms my heart to see Diamond Tiara not among the more vile characters. Though, too bad you couldn't fit Sunset else where to show Trixie with the Alicorn amulet as she was more a braggart than anypony who ever did anything wrong until she returned to get revenge for how ponies abused her and painted over her carriage. I still wish Trixie was a recurring rival for Twilight though, progressively becoming a villain before progressively or finally being turned around.
*shrug* it's a kids show, can't expect any of the Trixie fanon world to ever be a thing but Magic Duel was close enough to try to be something of such levels and rather enjoyed it anyways.
One of the greatest things about the show is the animation and the amount of expressions they throw in. So many small gestures you'd miss if you so much as blinked at times. Nice stuff.
Anyways, love this version a ton! I'm really amazed you got so many of the characters and stuff so well despite never watching the show. To see Flutterbat in the villains section is along with my favorite villain The Mane-iac and such was pretty awesome.
But I have to say, the overhauled Ponyvillian cast of characters was my favorite section, as bad flanked as the upper part was, it's just nice to see so many of the characters that made the show so lovable.
For what it's worth, that last section with the mirror looked amazing.

Wow... This is amazing. Very nice work. I particularly like the textures on Discord. Makes him much more menacing than his normal cartoon self.
