-in-game, luce and jules really did evolve one after another. thats the power of friendship, babey!

-ferris wasnt killed when he took a bullet to the face because its not a real bullet. guns (and other conduits) in this world are merely channelers for the users' magic, which determines the power of the move used. marcels just using bullet seed here

-I fudged everyones movesets a little higher because my notes here were very spare and also a battle that was just full of growl and tackle wouldnt be very interesting

-many other regions also view magic as an extension of the soul, but their interpretations of why/how people evolve differ widely. sinnoh distinguishes itself by being the region that most strongly correlates evolution with the practice of combat and violence.

for example, kantonians might see league challenges as conducive to evolution because they bring on new experiences and broaden horizons; sinnoh sort of believes that, but also is like, "if you beat up other people that makes your soul stronger"
