I will have to agree, the story line is not clear enough in Blame!
Though I love Cibo in Blame more than any other characters Nihei have ever created.

whoa, thank you for helping me out, oh, and amazing pictures by the way! (<=it's good to see original fan art that isn't just copied outta the manga). I've loved Blame! ever since I first laid eyes on it a few years ago, but I don't know anyone else who reads it so I never get a chance to ask mah stupid questions, so this was a huge help.

I gots a question. The girl from Noise, is she Sanakan from Blame!? I always thought she was, but I could never get enough evidence to support that claim. Do you know?

I remember having some discussion with someone about the Blame!-plot the other day.
I think "evidence" supports rather that Sanakan is not Musubi (the Noise-girl). Cloudy part, but I think there are slight differences in look and style alone (in the beginning), also, Musubi's pretty much a renegade, while Sanakan keeps close ties to the Governing Agency (or even to the Safeguard in the beginning, that's another issue). While I do believe that Musubi is much like Killy and the original Sanakan, I don't think they're the same.
The connection that's most likely a given is that Musubi could be at least be regarded as some kind of prototype. I think it's safe to say that the technology that downloads Sanakan later numerous times encompasses the same stuff that makes up Musubis new safeguard body. (Also, her conscience is downloaded into that body, and maybe since it's the first run, she's not back-uped like Sanakan is later, so there should only have been one Musubi, the one running wild after her body beeing completed.)
At any rate, the last picture of Musubi is her being all alone somewhere, so I think that supports the no-ties-to-safeguard-or-governing-acency-thing even further.
Anyway, my opinion is, funny enough, heavily influenced by a single panel you can see during Killy's "reboot", with three people standing on a ridge, of whom one resembles Killy, one Sanakan and the third carries a pointy object that might be a swordlike thing.
Well, Blame!'s pretty cloudy on many aspects, so as long as there's no claim from the author himself, I guess those things remain a mystery.

NOiSE actually explains quite a lot of what happened before Megastructures and The City was formed, before Silicon Creatures, before it all... but the confusing part is, IS that woman whose name I can't remember Sanakan? THAT's the part that baffled me. Overall, AMAZING artwork, this one. I think Nihei would love it!

If I remember correctly, no, i think Misubi (Musubi? Wasabi? I can never remember those names) though was supposed to be what Sanakan and Killy were later, Special Safeguard. Or something like that. I guess she was intended to be like Sanakan, but she's someone else. I guess. Good guesses or wrong guesses, who knows.

I did so enjoy Noise! It explained so much about the history of Blame!...And let's face it, Musubi with her Safeguard augmentation, whoops Sanakan and Killy's butt.
