Hoooh this one took a bit longer, but I really wanted to render out the armor stuff.
Like I mentioned with the Gryphon pair, I imagine the material to form out of liquid. If I were to animate the materializing taking place, I'd imagine floating invisible "molds" of the mask and armor shapes, into which the liquid is poured into,, it would swirl around these invisible "containers" maybe fill in the decorative parts first, then solidify once all complete. The liquid would originate out of the facial markings, but for emergencies, they could just puke it up? Hmm I haven't though about the de-materializing, maybe it would rapidly age and deteriorate, or just suddenly turn liquid again and just splat on the ground, and re-solidify a final time on whatever surface it happened to land on. They'd need time to regenerate that material inside their body before being able to conjure up the armor again.
Basically, the main reason why I'm specifying these details, is because I think they could be used to create some rad looking images
