lol, you talk as if Bush was the ruin of this country, when in truth, Kerry would be the one to bring ruination to the poor and keep the rich wealthy, all the while exploiting the middle class and letting terrorists, who would like nothing better than to kill us in our sleep, roam free.

Bush will be the ruin of the country.
and like I said. Kerry wouldnt be much of a better option. So I agree with you.
I just find great fault with the voting/democratic system of this country. They call it a multi-party system, but there are really only two parties. Nader doesnt count. He stands up for what he believes, and you have to respect him for that. He's not concerned with party politics. Unfortunately, the rest of the country is so caught up in the whole democrat/republican thing, that any other option seems preposterous. Which is totally ridiculous. In a perfect democracy, the people would rule themselves, chosing who they want to rule. But what kind of a democracy is it, when you only have two options? So you decide to choose the lesser of the two evils. Is there a lesser? I dont know. Both have their good points and bad points. In my eyes, neither of them are fit to rule a country. They dont have my respect. They dont instill confidence in me. They dont stand up for my ideals. OH, and might I mention that they both lie uncontrollably. Who wants a liar as a president? No one. The president is the chief diplomat of a country. Pretty scary thought. When people think of America, they think of Bush. Looking at it from an American perspective... well, thats not so bad. Looking at it from the rest of the world's perspective..... HOLY SHIT! Sometimes I wish America would go back to the pre-depression days of isolationism. No more Globocop. No more Garrison state. The country has lived in constant fear pretty much since the end of World War 2. Its been so engrained in the citizens of this country that there's someone out there who wants to kill you. Can you imagine a world without any threat to the United States? I cant. This country's power stems off of threat. How would they justify such a huge military and so much weaponry research if there was no threat? they couldnt. It would mean that the only real industry that actually originates in this country would collapse. All other industries have been moved to third world countries where labour and natural resources are cheap. The military is America's industry. without it, the country would wobble and fall. Not because it would be taken over, but because its the only thing that keeps the country going. This is not only Bush's doing. Its his dad's doing. Its Clinton's doing. It's the doing of every president from Harry Truman to the present. Somehow, though, the conservatives (republicans) have been completely liberal with their military spending. More so than the liberals. I hate those two words. Liberal and conservative. They've been so over used, twisted and misconstrued that the mention of one of the words automatically brings stereotypical images to mind.
No country is perfect. No economic, social or political system is perfect. And American Capitalism is no exception. If everyone would stop believing that it was, some things might change.
Whoa. sorry about rambling so long. I had to get that off my chest.
(oh, and for the record, I'm not a communist, or an Islamic extremist. I'm an American citizen, living in (drumroll.......)TEXAS! OH MY GOODNESS! yes its true. Bush's beloved buttcrack. The most polluted state in the country. One of the most segregated states in the country). so maybe I'm just a tad bitter. hehe.

while i dont believe Bush will be the ruin of this country, i do agree with you on other things. however, i'd like to point out that while everyone calls this a democracy, it's really a republic. we vote people from our states into power in order that they can represent us at the federal level ... a true democracy wouldnt work, too many people, and far too many corrupt people for that to happen.
republicants and demoncats are the controlling parties and most people are afraid to vote for third party canidates because they fear (and rightly so) that it's almost a wasted vote. until such time that those other parties can gain a significant backing, we will be stuck with picking the lesser of two evils. unless of course, another great president like regan or lincon comes along to unite the country.
things in this nation have been going downhill since WW1, at least around there. i would like it as well if things could go back to isonlationism - but the world has proven twice, since our revolutionary war, that they cant seem to coexist without the united states.
we have a military out of necessity. those nations that arnt prepard to defend themselves will be destroyed. the military teaches alot of useful things as well: leadership, self confidence, physical fitness just to name a few. i dont agree that the military is the only thing keeping us standing. no nation would attack us, not because they are afraid of our military might, but because any nation that dosent trade with the united states is a poor nation.
i suppose i've talked too much, but it's nice having a civil conversation occasionaly. we dont get to vote for who we want, we are faced with a lesser of two evils, and we will be, until a person who can unite the country comes along. someone who will do what's best for America, not what's best for his or her political career. i think we can at least agree on that last point.
