Description
I run like the wind. All the time, through my mind, I am saying, "Please don't die."
Please don't die.
My legs burn. My lungs heave for air. I trip and fall too many times to count. I am covered with sweat. My vision is blurred, and I run just on instinct alone.
Even after this run, I have thirty stories to climb. Up and down. Just to get a medical kit. And then all the way back.
I'm worried my suit will run out of air, or fall apart. The sun is going down. I don't have too much time.
Just hold on a little longer. I'm coming.
Please don't die.

nice.
I think the setting sun in the 3rd panel could be a tad lower so as to show a race against time before darkness falls.

Good idea. This is a super fun series, I can't wait to start working on it again.

What I find compelling about superhero stories without superpowers is how much more relatable they feel to me. While being able to project force fields or throw energy bolts fulfills that fantasy of cool powers, part of why I love heroes like the earlier Batman (without the power armor) is because of the feeling "that could be me." Eli here has no special powers, guns, and just a survival suit. She is a hero because of the choices and sacrifices she makes. This could be you or me, no powers needed, just the right opportunity or mindset. To me, that is an incredibly empowering feeling.
This is also a beautiful three-part establishing shot, done with the same scene with the camera going up each time, and some familiar points of interest to tie them all together. The scale is massive, and it shows you just how far she has to go and how insignificant she is to the destruction around her. Do her sacrifices matter to "saving the world?" No, probably not. Do they matter to saving one life? They do.
And in that, she is saving the world one tiny piece at a time through her choices.
