Description
QuantumDesignsAZ modeled the Midway verse U.S.S. Walker! In the Midway timeline, the Shepard class were a class of starship measuring 367m in length in service with Starfleet. When tasked with creating a new light cruiser, Starfleet Engineers turned to an earlier design, the Walker class. Walkers had served with distinction for years, but became severely outdated as ships utilizing kelvin tech were introduced. The class was too old for a “Kelvin refit” to be practical and the class was phased out to the dismay of many who had served on the vessels. The team assigned to design the new light cruiser decided to take the beloved design and create a modern version. The resulting Shepard class looked like a larger walker class flipped upside down. First launched in 2151, the class quickly became a favored posting, having retained the comfort, reliability, and durability of its predecessor. The class was the first of the phase 3 designs, Starfleet's newest generation of starships based on the eighteen years of developments since the Kelvin incident. Featuring more powerful weapons, shields, impulse engines, warp drive, and more the class represented a significant step forward in Starfleet capabilities. However, Starfleet did not forget the origins of the class and the second ship bore the name U.S.S. Walker.
Real world lore this ship is named after my great friend Shea Walker as the Shepard class is one of his favorite ships.
