Pure power is the reason for his glowing zebra markings, and when needed he can convert that power to pure strength to help him along, example shows him jumping, all the colour travels to his hind legs allowing him to have 10x the strength he normally has, thus making him 10x more powerful than normal freisian horses, and they are very strong anyway.

The colour in his stripes turn Ultra violet, meaning there is no colour in them, making them seem invisible as they reflect the light and colours from their nearest surroundings. This really confuses a pursuer or victim, and makes it hard to attack or lock onto him, his coat also turns matte so he doesn't shine, and his shadow turns distorted, making him nearly impossible to make out when he is moving or against a wall or object.

Zakai doesn't trust you, period. He'll be constantly suspicious of you if you approach him. He'll sweat, be jumpy and anxious when you are around him, just waiting for you to hurt him or judge him.
He'll make you angry that he doesn't trust you and as soon as you confront him or snap at him he'll get defensive and drive you away, sure that you think he is an evil twathead who will kill you without a second thought.

He is really just paranoid, a broken soul that has been through too much to ever be happy again. If you're persistent you may get through too him, but that hasn't happened yet.

    background story:
As expected, as a luminous rainbow Zebra horse Zakai didn't have a discrimination free childhood. He was so bright and unable to fit in that he always drew attention to himself. But when he grew larger and larger and horns sprouted from his skull people looked at him differently, but still negatively. They were scared. His own people were scared of him. In their minds they knew he was evil, they realised they had made him feel bad and thought of him as one of those cliche villains that gets back at and goes crazy because of the people that hated him.

He was eventually driven out of his own world. He traveled to a world he did not even understand, a world that got him caught up in wars and torture. He spent years locked up, in chains and handcuffs. His desperate cries being the only voice he heard for what seemed like a thousand years. He thought he was safe in human form, he was wrong, his rainbow followed him, giving him rainbow hair, making him stick out even more in the ignorant world he had stumbled across. He was tortured and locked away, then forced to fight and be shot and 'murdered' more times than he could count, but, he survived, he survived what the creatures on the planet could not, leading him to be thought dead a thousand times over. He knows all too well the feeling of being stabbed, or shot. He knows what it is like to be worked to the bone, the constant thrashing of a whip being his only tie with reality, the twisted thing that kept him going, but also scarred him forever. He watched the planet evolve, and the 'deaths' were less painful, but deadlier. He thought himself actually dead many times, but just as he reached peace a sick feeling brought him back to reality, and he survived once again.

When he found himself wishing for the creatures to find an effective way to kill him, he realised revenge was needed. He gave up being blameless. His rage filled revenge unpured his soul as he gave no mercy.

He escaped that horrid world and he survived yet again, but he was now free.

And he wasn't going to forget that.
