Description Drawing Kamoebas was to but it bluntly, interesting... He's pretty much a rock turtle with fangs and a super extendable neck. The worse thing was that Kamoebas, in his latest appearance, was friggen dead. DEAD. He was pretty much fodder to hype up 2K Godzilla and the best the human cast had to say about him was that he smelled like a garbage boat and it wasn't the alien symbiote infested variety.

So that left the question: "What the hell do I do with a giant, long necked, DEAD, rock turtle with teeth?" I was going to turn him into a mascot for smilies that would have been like throwing some salt on an already festering wound. I then started throwing the words 'turtle' and 'dead' around in my head until finally hit me. Make him a zombie turtle!

I only changed two things really. His eyes and his mouth. Turtles don't normally have teeth, just a beak. If he just had teeth framing the inside of his beak the root system would be weak and even mutated animals don't grow out of their major features that quickly. Remember folks, Kamoebas was an normal turtle altered by an alien intelligence; you can only change so much. To address this issue I looked at lot of fantasy turtles ( i.e. the FF adamantoise ) and created a sort of 'double beak'. The first layer is his snapping and gripping beak, meant for slicing and crushing. Its kinda of like armor for the second layer or the 'under jaws'. The 'under jaws' feature a strong root system for the teeth and provide an anchor for the tongue. The 'under jaw's' function is for shredding and tearing things into managable chunks that are later swallowed. The only part of the 'under jaw' that is visible when the beak is closed are the twin tusks extending from the upper palate. When feeding, I imagine Kamoebas seizing the prey with his beak and shaking brisquely side-to-side. Killing and shredding smaller prey as well as sawing off sizable chunks of larger prey. Being a zombie now, Kamoebas's eyes are under a super form of high tension, his pupils so small its like they're invisible. This gives him that mindless look that comes from being incredibly hungry all the time.

His neck wound is still there and it seeps blood continously. In this scene, Kamoebas has gone back to familar territory and is terrorizing the villagers. This time motivated by the taste of living flesh instead of an alien agenda. Villagers...its whats for dinner.

Kamoebas's humor comment is a double feature. The first part being a homage to that famous music video 'Thriller'. If you don't know what that is or how it connects to zombies than shame on you. The second part is easier. He's a zombie now, what do you think he wants? You may be asking yourself, "what does Kamoebas and zombies have to do with each other?" I'll say it again, he's freaking dead. DEAD. Dead kaiju can't do anything except stink up the harbor. Can't change the fact that he's dead, but you can make him undead; and that ladies and gentlemen is entertainment.

Next up is Varan ( unbelievable my ass )

Kamoebas was in an original Toho feature called 'Yog, Monster from Space'. It also had Ganimes and Gezora in it as well.

I went giggty when they say Kamoebas was appearing in the millennium series...it was a lie...

It's always a lie man. Its also, but not always a trap too most of the time. Though they could have done much worse. They were originally intending to have Anguirus be the victim there on the beach but realized the nerdrage would be too much for even them to overcome so they had poor Kamoebas take the fall.

....bastards.

Eh he didn't do much anyway besides hit stuff with his claws and blow bubbles. Besides, their is barely any difference between him and Ebirah so he could have been used just as well. I wouldn't mind it.

Now that guy had potential. Giant cuttlefish that changes the temperature? Jeez, give that guy a little bit of a makeover, up his powers a bit and you got yourself a worthy fight for the king himself. Godzilla has always had a problem with two elements: lightning and ice. The former he can redirect into his energy reserves if he gets desperate enough but ice has always been the big lizard's bane. Being that Gezora is the closest Toho Kaiju to employ that as a weapon, I could see Gezora giving Godzilla quite the match.

well, I did this small story about Gezora, my characters and Zilla. The story is that Gezora would be a mutated squid that produces a liquid that is fire proof, enables him to move on land as well as breathe out on the surface. he would have a major make-over then and there.

I like mah ice powers...but for the Zilla universe that sounds more feasible. Most of the Zilla universe monsters had a more scientific approach to their abilities so that HEAT could find a way to neutralize or take advantage of them and have Zilla clean house.

well, I thought of that and actually, the slime coat is strong enough to fend off Godzill'as beam.

The very concept of a giant zombie turtle just tickles me. Very nice, the "uuhhh!" expression is priceless!

That's a weird way to describe kamoebas of him being a undead zombie kajiu instead of a giant clawd turtle

i remeber that scene now i get it,but why become a man-eating kaiju can he just destroy the village and crush the villagers or ur work is fine

RenDragonClaw In reply to Gojira98 [2008-05-10 00:59:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh he's still a giant clawed turtle...he's just a giant clawed turtle that has become a zombie. I mean, he's not like Mothra who can reincarnate herself via her offspring. Did you see him laying on that beach? His only movie appearance in years and he comes back as a corpse. Its weird yes, but you gotta admit its doing him a favor.

But wouldn't a undead kaiju want to eat kaiju brains! Nice work, and very funny.

RenDragonClaw In reply to hypergojira [2008-05-09 21:07:02 +0000 UTC]

lol, yeah he would if he could. He certainly wouldn't be getting a hold of Godzilla's brain thats for sure. Though he would try for obvious reasons. Anything around Anguirus's size and level of power would be fair game I suppose. Oh, and thanks .

Hmm, him being undead isn't too far of a stretch from the movie he originated from, actually.

Well done. The zombie-ness comes through well, and as an added bonus, there's blood! Blood is fun to look at.

Really? I haven't seen the movie so I never got a feel for his character outside of his sad millenium appearance. Something tells me the Yog Trio were supposed to be scary but fell short due to budget constraints. Blood is always fun, I haven't really found a technique I like for it but the current one I'm using seems to work fine for now. I wish I had a really good splatter brush. Thanks for the comment .
