If you mix glow-in-the-dark Sculpey III with some Super Sculpey, would the resulting mix still glow or would it lose that ability?

I've never tried it myself, but I would expect it to still glow, but be very weakened. Not sure about that though!
If you test it out let me know how it turns out. :]

Haha, alright. Thanks for your help, I bought some but have no idea how I'm going to use it.

Your whole tutorial series on this is amazing, and makes me so want to run out and buy Sculpey to play with...

Do it! Well, you don't have to. It can be fun creating things in 3d. It adds challenge that's for sure.
Thank you very much. Glad you like the tuts. ^_^

Heh... I'd be more likely to run out and score the sandblasting kit I saw. That's been my favorite of hobbies for a long time, and I've NOT been able to follow it, due to space and other considerations. But THIS one is literally portable... (sighs) I have too many hobbies, too many things I like to do and not enough funding or time to pursue them all!
Clay would be cheaper. Working in clay would be a LOT cheaper...

Aah! Different coloured sculpy. I've been wondering how to get decent detail and smoothness easier. So far I've tried sanding, white spirit, gentle paintbrushing and the good old finger... you can still never tell where all the really unobvious grooves and uneaven spots are with the regular sculpy until it's painted, though, even with all the "safety smoothings":[
I'll have to try this, thanks ^_^!

I hope it helps. I know this was a big problem for me too.
What is white spirit? Is that like turpenoid or isopropyl alcohol which helps with the smoothing process?

It's this [link] Very useful to an artist Just dissolves the top layer, though it does make the sculpy uber sticky Dx

Being a visual learner, this tutorial makes me very happy.
(And there's a sale on Sculpey at the art store I work at, so I may need to stock up!)

Now that'd be awesome seeing you get into this stuff. So far I feel like such a loner, going out on a limb here with the stuff. XD

Aww~! I've always had a fascination with sculpting, but all my past attempts have ended not-too-pleasantly, so seeing you take the time to make a tutorial that gives some tips on how to approach it is quite refreshing for my motivation--besides, I want to do more than just digitally paint and play with my markers!

I'm glad I didn't empty out all my messages, this has helped inspire me to keep going with the tutorial.
I know what you mean about wanting to do more. I must get back into sculpting.

Well, I'm glad that you intend to keep going with the tutorial--I'm genuinely interested in sculpting, and I'd like to give it another try, and seeing your tutorial on it not only answers some of the "huh?" about it, but definitely has me pretty stoked to give it another go. I'll be looking forward to future installments!

I see your TV >3
And whoa, mixing's that easy?1 I was expecting something that was going to make me pull my hair out at the difficulty

That tv collects dust mostly. My computer is my only source of entertainment, that or the small tv upstairs used for necessary video games.
Mixing clay is easy, easy enough that I wonder if I should have bothered with a tut for it. XD Then again, people now know it's easy. Hahaha.

I'm quite sure they don't sell Sculpey over here in Finland, but then again I'm sure there's some other material very alike to it that can be worked with in a similar way
This is a good tutorial, very comprehensible, interesting and fun I'm really looking forward to see how it's all done.

They actually do sell it in Finland. Just google Hobbypoint. They sell loads of different crafting stuff and I think you can order online.
Great tutorial series on sculpting. I must try some time.

Over here we have stuff called Das, which you can get in most hobby shops. Its a polymer clay that you can get in kilogram packs. And it is air hardening, so no oven involved. From what I can see, super sculpey looks a little more plyable (just looking at the finger indentation in the first pic).
And it comes in white of teracota.
Really nice start. Its given me some ideas about making the clay more workable by ^^
Cant wait to see more

Ughh air dry. I once worked with air drying stuff in art class before. It was terrible. Lot of the projects made with it have broken off parts.
Good luck with your clay.

Great tutorial! I only wish you could get Sculpey in England. Maybe it's the same as Fimo...?

Sorry, it probably doesn't help any but some places in England do sell Sculpy o.o There's a really good art store near me that I get mine from for Β£10... I guess you just have to look around for it in specialist stores whenever you see one.

That I don't know. I never tried the stuff before. It's a shame you can't get Sculpey though. I guess one could always get it online, but some people don't fancy that method.
I've heard that there are a lot of places that don't have the stuff. Brazil is one of them. But they have stuff like cold pottery clay which is something I've been having troubles finding here. Why can't they make it available internationally.

It looks great though. I'd love to get back into modelling- I used to love it when I was younger. Until my class got Banned From Clay. That was awesome. XD
