Description

he Moffrii are a mysterious new species! Not much is known about them yet, so there's a lot still left to learn. While the Moffrii share a similar appearance to the Calyptra, they are different in some very key ways!

DIET
Moffrii lack the vampiric natures of the Calyptra and, in fact, don't eat any kind of meat at all. They are strictly vegetarian, with a noted preference for fruits and honey-based foods. Some also have preferences for bitter chocolate or coffee-type flavors. Their lack of a predatory nature has probably lead to many of the biological differences between the Moffrii and the Calyptra.

ANATOMY AND ABILITIES
Moffrii start their lives in a grub-like state, during which they do little besides eat and sleep. They grow quickly, and by five years old they build a silk cocoon. After a few months, they emerge as smaller versions of adult Moffrii, and they molt every so often until they reach adult size. They lack the extra set of arms that many Calyptra do, and their wings always rest in the Cape-type positioning. They tend to be sleek and streamlined, and the males (or male in appearance types) in particular are notable for their flying speed.

A Moffrii may be very feminine in outward appearance and still be male, or very masculine in appearance and still be female!

They use pheromones to communicate silently amongst themselves, but have no ability to influence other species with them. They also lack the ability to shape-shift in any way. They tend to be gregarious and chatty, and prefer to solve problems with talk and compromise. They are a very non-aggressive species in general. They realize that other species find them to be 'cute' more often than not, and they enjoy being praised and flattered. They are not above guile to get what they need or want.

Biolumenesence is not super common, but it is not unheard of when it comes to their body colors and patterns.

Their exoskeleton is soft, pliable, and leathery in places not covered in fur. Hair and fur tend to have a very silky, soft texture. They have an internal skeleton as well. They have extremely good eyesight and can see colors into spectrums that many species cannot, but they are also very sensitive to bright lights. They also have a tendency to collect objects when they have a permanent residence, and these collections vary from Moffrii to Moffrii.

BASE USE
The bases I provide are Free To Use! The species is Open and anyone may draw or design a Moffrii of their very own. You may edit the bases to suit your needs in any way, and may also have other artists do the same. I only ask that I am credited for the base once they have been uploaded to any sort of social media. Colored bases may be traded or sold. If you have purchased an adoptable Moffrii from me, I ask that you not sell them for more than what you paid for them UNLESS you have commissioned extra art of them. Then you may adjust the price as necessary!

I really like these! DA is being weird and I can't find the group for them yet, but I'll have to join when I do!

Unfortunately, I never had an active group for these! I have a small group for my adoptables in general and if you like moth babies there's the Calyptra group for a similar species. 😊

There are free bases and mods stuff over here, I just haven't done much with adoptables lately! - www.deviantart.com/marvelousme…

So I have a couple questions then.
Do we create characters and put a link to this page or the Calyptra group?

What is the relation with the Calyptra group? Do we join them and put our moths there?

Are we not allowed to create these until a certain time?

(P.s. because I can't view your journals rn. Do you have customs for moths up? I really love your style!)

The Calyptra group was just a sister group for a similar species, but theirs is closed. They have more back story and a role play group. You'd have to check em out for all the details.

The Moffrii are totally open though, and anyone can make one at any time and use the bases whenever they like! You don't have to link them anywhere or anything, they're just a fun concept I liked making but there aren't really rules or a group. I just like seeing what people do with the idea and the bases if ya use them. 😊

Oh ok! If you don't mind, I'd still like to credit you as the species creator out of respect. I think this species is really unique and original, and very very gorgeous!

Am I allowed to make a male one even though they are scarce?

Yep! It was just something I made up for 'lore' purposes but people don't have to totally follow it. You can make whatever you like.
