Description
This is the female Kirin sculpture. This is a test-painted piece in soft pearly beige with dark antique to bring out the scales and details. She has a gold plated pewter horn and glass eyes. She is about 7 inches long.
She is a reproduction of my original sculpture, produced by Windstone Editions.

I have been in love with these windstone sculptures since I was like 10. I found a booklet thing of them and used it to find different kinds of creatures to pretend to be in my fantasy games with my friends. I am so glad I stumbled upon your account!

I'm sorry I didn't mean to ignore your question, I somehow missed your comment.
We aren't producing these kirins in large numbers right now, but we are occasionally painting special ones that we auction on Ebay. Here is a link to our ebay listing if you would like to see it.[link]

Wow! Thank you for the wonderful compliment!
The kirins are based on all sorts of things: deer, baby goats, muntjack deer, muskox (the muzzle), and my pet rats! My rats would sometimes hold their ears like that. A lot of the kirin's anatomy is just plain made up, though.

I have an ancient Windstone catalog that I keep around just to look at the Kirin sculptures, because I've always loved the design. And it's YOUR sculpture??? *bows at your feet*
What kind of animal is it patterned after? A llama? I've tried to figure it out for years.
