Description
This is a photo manipulation of my poad(tm) sculptures being nutty.I'm trying again, the first image of this was too yellowish, so I put it in "scrapbook".
I got the yellow color to soften a bit by reducing the "saturation" toggle.
Manipulating the color balance and hue didn't work too well.

Curves and levels are better than using color balance and hue in my experience. I actually did a wee little color correction tutorial on YouTube using the program I usually use for simple color adjusts (free program - paint.NET) - I don't have fullblown Photoshop right now (learned on 7 in the school labs) but in PS I was always told curves works much better.

They're adorable and the texture of the nut is perfect for their skin.

Wow! When I first saw this I was all like... WHAT!??! She carved AND painted not one... but TWO CASHEWS to look like poads!?!? Lol! I need to get some sleep... That would be really cool though if you did do that though! XD
Awesome job making them look so real!

Great job, on the thumbnail it looked quite realistic! Though on the zoomed-in I need to say that the blur where photos connect one to the other tells that it's manipulated. I mean if you would paint with paint on the nut it wouldn't have as soft (digitally looking) gradients, it would still have some texture to it. But I still love the idea, I've got fooled there for a moment!

oh, paint on the nut? ok , next time.I have rarely tried doing this sort of thing before. I think it has something to do with the amount of pixels on the two images also, the sculptures needed to be shrunk down, so they ended up with sharper detail than the nuts.

I see! Anyway, this work is amazing and what I mentioned is just a detail, I wanted to help I don't know if it's the size issue here. There are only two spots with the blur I'm talking about. Where the blue guy's pattern joins the nut and on the orange one on the bottom right side of him where the white spot is. The rest is great

Yeah I see those. I used the smudge tool for those spots because I didn't know a better way to blend the markings onto the nut. I could of done it better.

What kind of light was this taken in? the glow of the sun is a warm hue that certainly will bring out the yellows. You could try a "bright white" lightbulb, they tend to lean closer to the blue end of natural(esque) light.

It was taken with a mix of incandescent and natural.

CORRECTION - I misspoke in an earlier message. Magenta wasn't the one to adjust. It was blue.
I took the image and played with it and found that Auto Color didn't work at all. (That happens sometimes.) I got the best results both in lightening the yellow, and in going into the Variations menu and selecting the one with a tad more blue.
I don't know why I said magenta. I had a brain fart.

Oh, and you can also just try the Auto Color feature in the Adjustments menu. PS is pretty smart, and ofttimes will get it right on the first try. Another method is to go to
Image>Adjustments>Variations (bottom of pulldown menu) and then see some of PS's "filter" choices. At the very least, it's good to know where all this stuff is. I use them all the time in photo repair.

Oh! I have never used the "variations" ! Neat!

Knobbing the saturation will give the image a greyish look. To get rid of yellow, either add magenta, or, go into Image>Adjust>Hue and Saturation, and then knob around with Lightness. BUT you have to select the yellow layer once you get to the Hue and saturation menu. That way, you're only affecting the yellows. Lightening makes them less saturated without going grey.

I fooled around with all the color levels and channels. I finally gave up and used the saturation toggle. My trusty weapon to STOMP that color out.
