Our favorite bedtime story is Ancient Aliens (it is aired at 1 am in our cableTV) we drift to sleep while listening and bursting in laughter occasionally. I just sold all my Daniken books on a garage sale who needs them when AA is on air?

The movie wasn't meant to be taken all literal, it was full of analogy's as well as actual literal truths towards what the new world government and the secret societies are doing.
Ridley Scott is an insider to all this and made this movie by putting out in the open what is going on in the world right now by the secret societies.
Needless to say, Tony Scott, Ridley scotts brother was thrown off a bridge shortly after the movies release....but it was reported he "commited suicide"
This was a direct response to Ridley for releasing a movie with insider secrets to this evil secret society. They were showing ridley "who's the boss."
The Elitist Globalist of this world want a one world government where they control everything and want to create a "supreme human population" that follows all orders given by the elitist evil globalist. They will do this via Genetic Manipulation, RFID chips, and cloning.
Have any of you noticed the RFID chips showing up in the news or the commercials promoting such devices?
The first 3 numbers of the chips have guess what 3 numbers? Go on guess. They ultimately want to implement them in your right hand, and forehead just as the bible spoke of when it discussed the mark of the beast.
The bible also spoke of this mark creating ulcers on those that took it..This chip is powered by a tiny Lithium battery, and if ruptured the acid from the chip would cause ulcers.
The bible also speaks of not being able to purchase or sell goods without the chip, which an IBM commercial advertised.
Revelation 13:16 (King James Version)
16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Have you ever had a dream, FlipswitchMANDERING, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?
I know why you're here, FlipswitchMANDERING. I know what you've been doing... why you hardly sleep, why you live alone, and why night after night, you sit by your computer. You're looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn't really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It's the question that drives us, FlipswitchMANDERING. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.

If I had the clapping hands graphic, I'd use it in response to your post.
I gave up a few years back, because I didn't have internet access(in fact i really haven't used a computer since 2004) and thought no one saw what I was seeing...And I was constantly being called crazy. I KNEW the news was lying to me, I KNEW there was an anti-religious movement going on in this country and didn't know why, and I KNEW people were becoming dumber.
And then I watched a video called "the truth may scare you" on youtube and it shed light on EVERYTHING you just responded to me with. Then I found Alex Jones from infowars, and all the great people trying to spread this message.
I've noticed a lot of secularism on this site, so I thought it would be a great place to help show people what's going on..and people such as yourself make trying to do this all the more worthwhile.

It's a stinking world because there's no law and order anymore! It's a stinking world because it lets the young get on to the old, like you done. Oh, it's no world for an old man any longer. What sort of a world is it at all? Men on the moon, and men spinning around the earth, and there's not no attention paid to earthly law and order no more.

Is it that my teasing is cute? Or do you find Shaw cute? Or are memes inherently cute?
If I didn't suck, I'd make this into a poem. There'd be alliteration and everything. Maybe make it an allegory for the unexpectedness of life. Cause, y'know, irony.

I have a theory to why the "engineers" are pissed at us....
So it's clear that one(or two) engineers came here. Now what if one of those engineers was Jesus? Now some people killed Jesus.
That was the baddest move we could have ever done.
So now since we actually killed one of our creators, in the engineer's point of view we are hostile. So they decide to totally destroy are species.
Also this picture is hilarious! xD

If Jesus was a nine foot tall, pure white, hairless alien, I think fewer people would have been bold enough to challenge claims of his divinity for fear of his pimp hand
I don't think that can be my head canon - partially because my head canon might as well have OCCAM'S RAZOR carved on it - but it's certainly more thoughtful than anything Shaw ever said.
Thanks

(This comment might contain spoilers.)
I didn't mind the movie, but my brother-in-law and I both agreed the writing was sub-par.
I didn't get the whole parasite lifecycle/infected-zombie-man or how any plot-twist wasn't forseen by anyone (the whole "Dad" thing for example I guessed in the first ten minutes), while he pointed out everything wrong with character reactions.
Philisophical debate in it was weird...but my approach to the 'alien people are bad' is that they were doing illegal experiments in weapons; maybe they were terrorists or zealots. Makes more sense than the entire species was evil or that Humans were a mistake.
It was a bummer because I loved the premise, but the movie is generic, if not disturbing in some scenes.
That ooze in the movie immediately made me think Spiderman punched Venom a bit too hard in a fight and Venom quickly made a sick in the room. I don't know why...

How long after a movie comes out do we still have to put spoiler warnings? You'd think there'd be a widely known rule of thumb for spoiler warnings but, if there is, I haven't heard it.
Prometheus was under the impression that it was the next 2001: Space Odyssey, which it absolutely wasn't. It wasn't even the tv version of Stargate SG1/Atlantis. It just took a widely accepted SciFi premise (Ancient Astronauts ) and then pretended it was really deep for it. Ancient Astronauts is the default these days. Transformers RoTF, Beast Wars, Animorphs, Star Trek, The X-Files, Smallville, Mass Effect, Halo, Doom 3... heck, the entire premise of Scientology is Ancient Astronauts! No one is shocked to hear that the super advanced alien race is related to humans anymore.
The idea of exploring an alien-human link from a theological point of view is an interesting one but, really, all we saw in depth was how much the writers of this film despise both scientists and spirituality. I say spirituality since Shaw wasn't part of any organized religion and, in fact, invented a very, very personalized version of spirituality.
I have a whole rant against Shaw that I'd be glad to share with you but, on the topic of the movie's philosophical debate, Shaw knows David can read the Engineer's language and that the ship she is on has some information about Earth. Why doesn't she just have David look up the answers to her questions on the Engineer's computers? If humans are an experiment, then just read the data. Problem solved.
I like to assume good until proven evil so, in my head canon, the Engineers are perfectly fine people but - when the last one on board woke up to a bunch of tiny, mutant versions of himself after an implied chemical disaster - he got spooked and wanted to get out before something awful happened to him too. Also, my head canon is that the Predators were created by the Engineers too but, instead of crying the whole time like Shaw, they killed all their Engineers and took their stuff, which would give the Engineers a good reason to be skittish.
Everyone was pumped about this movie so it was a real let down.
I'd have been a lot happier if Venom showed up. That would have been awesome.

I do it as a general rule. Not even a month ago I saw it. (I got a huge plot twist of Transformers: Prime in season two long before I even got a pre-ordered copy of the first one.)
I thought it would be perceived more as sensational as Alien, but I can see the Space Odyssey resemblance. But it was neither.
Ancient Astronauts...I thought it kind of made sense, as it was based in the Aliens universe, which already had the theme it, though in Prometheus they made them into "Creators" instead of just Space Jockeys. It reminds me of a cliche I can't stand in Science Fiction; aliens that look like Humans.
I tend to distance fictional portrayal of religion/science from real life examples. With Shaw, I saw her as a Christian, but a fictional!Christian. And any bad idea she had was purely bad writing or characterisation, and not her. Kind of like how superheroes make decisions they wouldn't normally make in order to advance plot.
Predators created by the Engineers? I like tthem being seperate, but I couldn't help but smirk at the image of them doing exactly that. Like a Spartan and pirate combined.
I never understood Shaw's reactions to things either. If they did create us in that universe; so what? If it's a belief issue one can easily theorise God created humanity through their technology/hands, and still we'd be able to deem ourselves one of His children. If it's a scientific standpoint she could try to gain evidence, tell humanity about the race and we could try to find their worlds to check them out. If they're there we could gain allies or something to learn from, or if they're absent we could accumulate resources for future colonies.
I think if the movie was thought-through apart from amazing visuals riding on the Ridley Scott name then it could have been better.
If Venom were there, none of them would survive. Which would have been entertaining for us, but not for poor Spidey XD

I used to love spoilers but now I don't even like watching trailers. There's something so fun about going into a movie blind.
Alien was about a bunch of space truckers getting blind-sided by a wildly symbolic, lone alien. There was an over-arching rape metaphor but even if you somehow managed to miss that, it was still a great survival story. A small cast trapped in a confined space with a monster. Classy.
2001: A Space Odyssey was about a group of scientists on an expedition inspired by finding an alien artifact on (near) Earth. Human evolution was tampered with by aliens in the past and, when Bowman finds the alien artifact on another planet, he is physically changed by it.
Prometheus is much closer to 2001. The gore-fest alien pregnancy is the only thing that is distinctly Alien. It was written in such a haphazard way too. It's disappointing. Now, don't get me wrong. If no one got impregnated the whole film, I would have been wildly disappointed since the Alien universe is so much about pregnancy/body horror. But the entire xenomorph design is meant to body the fear of rape regardless of gender and that isn't a key point in Prometheus.
Oh, Shaw is a terrible person. She's a terrible Christian and she's a terrible scientist. It's the fault of bad wring for sure but I think the film actually works better if we assume that we are meant to loath her. Then the film is playing with our expectations of a strong, down-to-earth female lead by giving us an idiot. Plus, Shaw's utter failure as a human being is later overcome by Ripley's sheer awesomeness. That'd be clever if it was intentional. Which it wasn't.
Ridley Scott likes them separate too but I adore my crossovers. I can keep a pure Alien universe straight in my head but, for anything I do, it's going to be a combined universe.
Shaw has all her theories.... no, we're calling them hypotheses. There is no evidence that Shaw tested her ideas prior to the film, so they are still hypotheses. Not theories. Shaw has all her hypotheses confirmed by her findings on the the planet and yet she acts like its the end of the world. Why isn't anyone ecstatic that their findings are going to change the course of human history? What do they want? Seriously. Fly that ship home, be hailed as a hero, save countless lives with the new technological findings, revolutionize space travel, and live the rest of your life in your several gigantic mansions. Being angsty on top of a pile of cash on the planet you've revolutionized is a lot nicer than being angsty alone in deep space.
In hindsight, I wish that the whole movie had been about the creation of synthetics. David was easily the most interesting character and you could still explore the creator-creation relationship but it'd actually make sense this way. It'd be relevant and you could actually work in Alien's genderless rape themes since synths don't really have a gender and they aren't capable of saying no (coercion). Plus the name Prometheus would have actually made sense then.
I think we just need a Marvel-Alien crossover. That should be a thing. I really do want to see Spiderman fight a xenomorph. Wall crawling EVERYWHERE.

It would have been better with a smaller cast and the whole the-engineers-are-evil thing being revealed from the start. Hell, they could have worked in a lot more from the story the movie gets its name from that way. The "good engineer" would have been Prometheus. The other major problem is that they went with the wrong kind of pacing for the movie. It was the wrong kind of sci-fi for what they went with.
Also, more scenes with David and lose the pointless plot threads that go nowhere.

That's a good point. The title ends up sounding like the filmmakers shouting LOOK HOW DEEP WE ARE, MYTHOLOGY IS DEEP, REBEL AGAINST THE GODS AND STUFF, IT'S RELEVANT!
Personally, I refuse to believe the engineers are evil, simply because I don't think there are any canon reasons to think that way. But I like your idea too! It would have made for a much better film.
