Description First part of my entry for contest
It's her characters James and Karyn as Amaterasu and Issun, respectively

I lost count of the number of attempts I made to draw a decent pic for the contest. Most of them were about my favorite section of the story, the swimming pool, but no matter how much I tried nothing turned out right DX
Because my muse is being a pain and I managed to find a bit of free time, I decided to play Okami for a change. That's when I got the crazy idea of doing a crossover

At first I was thinking of dressing James as Issun and Karyn as Ammy, but keeping the sizes switched, but for some reason it just didn't feel right. So I decided to do the gender switch on the original characters and draw them a bit differently to match Posie's characters

How lovely ^___^ I like how you gave it that soft look. How did you find the right brush to do that?

Now excuse me while I slowly exit. Now that James is a wolf, he's even MORE of a safety hazard than he already was.

Granted that James may not be a giant wolf/dude per say (since Karyn was the one that shrank)... but still... he's slobbering hyper pooch now and anyone who has met a puppy knows they're going to be walking away with scratches all over their arms and legs and drool wetting their shirt > <

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to 5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue [2008-08-13 14:50:47 +0000 UTC]

Simple, experimented on several different brushes and altered their parameters until I found one with an effect I liked

Lol XD
That's why Karyn is on the top of his head with a sword in her hand (which is more like a toothpick to him, but alas). Someone has to teach the pooch some manners >3

XD

Ceasar Milan is the Dog Whisperer. Its a tv show on the National Geographic channel here in the States. This guys is a dog psychology expert! He goes to peoples houses and helps them to get their out of control dog(s) to behave better. However, most of the time Ceasar has to also train the people since a lot of the owners treat their dog like a person and not a dog. XD I like the show ^___^ Good tips there.

Sounds interesting
Yeah, most of the time is a problem of miscommunication. A lot of people can't read dogs and understand their behavior D<

5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue In reply to resizer [2008-08-13 15:14:58 +0000 UTC]

My mom and I have been trying to convince my dad that he's treating our house dog like a person and not a dog but he won't listen. He gives me guff whenever I try to discipline the dog when he's around > < The thing is though.... IT WORKS. The dog listens and calms down. *sigh* My dad is set in his ways. -__-

resizer In reply to 5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue [2008-08-13 15:34:58 +0000 UTC]

Personally I don't like to treat a dog as just a dog, but I don't treat him like a human either (I apply the word person to any creature with their own individuality)
Usually what I do is use a mix of commands and vocal tones with canine body language (like keeping a tense body posture with my shoulders raised when I'm being threatening or tilting the head to the side when I'm being curious). It helps then understand more clearly what I'm trying to tell them and, to me, it helps creating a better relationship

But I agree with you that dogs shouldn't be pampered and treated like people. My mom's dog was always allowed to do what he liked as a pup and today he's a complete brat D<

5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue In reply to resizer [2008-08-13 16:09:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes, body language is very important when communicating with a dog. Whenever I come home, the dog gets really worked up and gets all excited (the over the top kind-jumping and yipping) I ignore her and wait for her to calm down before I greet her. It works within 30 seconds.

Too true. Ss far as how our dog acts around my dad, she is a brat. She gets super jealous when my mom shows my dad affection and tries to get in between them.

Usually I great mine as soon as I get in, otherwise she'll be walking around my legs and make me trip

Ugh, I so hate when dogs do that, especially those who try to bite the other person just so they can get all the attention to themselves D<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue In reply to resizer [2008-08-13 16:20:17 +0000 UTC]

Ah... the tripping -__- They like to be in your walking path. I just nudged them out of the way. Or if they're too big I do this shooing motion without looking at them. ^^

Our dog does that to our outside dog. If you give him affection (especially my dad), she's jumping up on the other dog and nipping at his muzzle. -__-

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

resizer In reply to 5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue [2008-08-13 16:27:30 +0000 UTC]

Problem is when they're needy for food/attention. No matter how much you shoo them they just keep getting back until you get mad at them. And being mad at someone who just wants to greet you is quite unfair if you ask me

I'd slap our dog if she did that (she still gets in the middle but at least she doesn't try to bite.... most of the time Xp )
Kimie, our female dog (my mom's dog is a male called Pepe), she'd to try to bite our cats and Pepe in order to steal their food. Now the moment I say her name she halts and looks at me. She knows I'm watching and if she tries to disobey she'll get one hell of a slap on her butt (I don't hit the face. Hurts too much)

5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue In reply to resizer [2008-08-13 16:54:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... that is true. They are stubborn things but no need to get mad at them.

Our outside dog used to nip and growl and steal food when we first brought him home from the Humane Society. However, once he saw that getting food was not a competition and that any scrapes were split up evenly, he stopped nipping and now always waits patiently for his half.

resizer In reply to 5ft-2-Eyes-of-Blue [2008-08-13 17:11:54 +0000 UTC]

If only ours managed to learn that.... because we have 4 animals we can't give the food all at once. So they're always on the lookout for something more or for the scraps the others didn't want Xp
