So I've been in Americaland for the last two weeks on Holiday, and beyond seeing lots of new faces, talking to new people, going to Otakon in Baltimore and being a serious tourist around New York and Washington DC, I got to rediscover a comic I hadn't seen in years.

Spinnerette is this awesome webcomic that is meant as a sort of parody/satire of mainstream comic books, even referencing DC and Marvel as corporations in their Universe who sue you if you use any of their characters names or likeness. The narrative revolves around Heather who, through the massive cliche of laboratory accident, gains spider powers but unlike a certain Peter Parker does not get away with the highly criticised lack of anatomical changes to match their new abilities (i.e. extra arms, and butt web shooters).

Anyway, so basically this image/fanart comes about as a result of two things:
[PLEASE BE AWARE, THE SECOND THING IS A SPOILER BUT NOT A BIG ONE AS IT'S EXPLAINED PRETTY EARLY ON SO DON'T READ IF YOU 100% HATE SPOLERS]

The first is that america is currently in a viral frenzy of the ALS awareness #IceBucketChallenge where you dump a bucket of ice/very cold water over yourself and then nominate another 1-3 people to do it too within 24hours, all in the aim to promote donations and awareness of ALS or as it's better known Lou Gehrig’s disease. Some famous names like Bill Gates, Conan O'Brian and Mark Zuckerburg have all taken part.

The second is that one of the superheros (heroines) in the Spinnerette comic actually suffers from ALS and uses her cybernetic tech to actually move her body (she actually has super strength, but her diseases means she can't use it without the suite)

So yeah, put those two together and Voilà! I made a thing!
