The Red Hand is the symbol of the land where I was born, Ulster. According to the legend I was told a a kid, a bunch of vikings were sailing toward its shores, when the captain shouted that "whoever is the first to lay his hand upon these lands will rule them", upon which some smartass (or dumbass, depending on how you look at it) drew his sword, chopped off his hand and threw it onto the shore. Of course legends come in many different variants and there are other ones as well en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hand… . As far as I know the symbol is cherished by both Ulster Catholics and Protestants, who otherwise hate each other and at times kill one another. Regardless of any legend, Ulster is indeed a pretty insane place. As "folks", and with religious politics left out of the picture, the people are very open and friendly though.

Your story sounds really exciting, I checked the arms and heraldry, and caught the meaning of old legend. This red hand reminded me of a knight's helmet design, I have seen something like this in the historical movie. I remember that helmet design with a hand on the top is very impressed me

The yellow bloom makes me think of a insect eating plant.
The red part almost resembles an animal of some kind falling though a green atmosphere. This plant looks alien, but maybe it is very special. It seems to be sending barbed seeds out into the world.

Yes, you're right, it sends the seeds into the world. Whenever I paint plant, I think about the seeds. Shapes, colors it' all interesting to me. This painting was inspired by a very interesting story about the plants endowed with reason. They helped to a man survive the winter on another planet. I remember the story, though I read that book so many years ago.
