Description
A subway station I am working on. I thought it was at a good stage to show some WIP and get some input.I am still thinking what to add to give the image more focus and more of a theme.
Thanks for viewing.

Thank you I don't see Collada Export. What is that for? I know Poser has it but never used it.

Collada would be fine to transport models to other platforms like Blender or even Second Life.

Ah right.. You would have to check on the Silo site to see if anyone else knows of a way to export in Collada.. I don't see it as an obvious option.

I can see all sorts of uses for this...it makes me think of lots of possibilities ... and I guess that's what a good model does.
Nicely done !

Coming along nicely.
You say it is WIP. Will the final product be an image? Or a scene we can buy at daz3d.com/Renderosity? Because it looks like something I would definitely buy.

Thank you.
I started out with just the idea of making an image, but ATM I don't see any problems with selling it. Some of the textures would have to change as it is currently "borrowing" from other models. Try and keep an eye on the WIP and I will probably be confirming whether it will be released or not.

Thank you Yeah I can see Fallout 3 in there, need to add a bit of gore and general mayhem and it would be perfect LOL

Yeah, a friend and I are playing New Vegas. It's a little more glitchy than Fallout 3. And it inspires me to do some apocalyptic stuff. Would love to play with your subway model. Keep me posted, I'm interested!

I will do I started Fallout New Vegas but then Back Ops and Gran Turismo came out and I haven't had time to return.. I will soon though. Fallout 3 was the first game I got all the trophies for

Looks good, not a fan of the texture on the floor, bench and ceiling tough (well, it works decent enough on the ceiling). But a bit more variation could be nice there

Thank you very much. The ceiling, floor and benches all currently have the same material applied I will be giving them some variety soon. Thanks

This is looking very nice Will DS mats be available? What to add, maybe a vending machine (1 soda & one snacks)? But that itself will be a lot of work so don't know about that idea.

I haven't really thought of selling it yet, but it may be possible. I have DS so making MATS would probably be possible (the lights would actually work well in DS).
Thanks for the suggestion too. I'll see If I can fit them in.
When I have added more items I will make a DS render to see how it looks and post it here.

Making DS mats "properly" (meaning setting specs, bumps, colors, etc.. correctly) takes a lot of know how and knowing how to load lights as well, or what store bought lights to load. This is if you want them to look good for others if you do sell it lol. Anyone can make DS mats (that still requires users to re-set them) but it takes experience to know what you're doing to do them right
lol... I'm just blabbin' 'cause I've run into quite a few bad mats. But if you need help or any advices, let me know, I make DS mats that matches Poser mats for a few vendors as well.

I probably would need assistance with doing it "right". If I get to that point I will give you a shout thank you.
You can give DS MATs as free stuff can't you? so they can be created after it is released.(if it takes me ages to learn LOL)

jamminwolfie In reply to RetroDevil [2010-12-16 15:30:47 +0000 UTC]
Yep, you can give them as free stuff after release And you're right, it does take ages to learn lol, it took me a long time as well, although not as long as most. I was constantly studying, doing trials/errors, etc... being a perfectionist and a quick learner. I'm the type that likes "tearing things apart and putting them back together" lol.
I also know that a lot, if not most, people don't want to learn that, but just want to apply good mats and render, their area of interest is putting renders together or posing characters or what nots. That's why you see a lot of not so good DS renders, and why I help vendors, to help these people as well as help vendors enhance their sales
And you're very welcome, friend!

wow . this is looking really good at this point . ideas .. clutter items like papers/coins/cups/cans/club adverts/straw/stickers/marker writing/pencil/a nudie magazine/general trash . maybe two trash can sets . one close one far . the metal mesh kind with chains would be a bit to model but would make great shadows . maybe a broken vending machine . maybe use one of your favorite artworks that you made for a poster somewhere . spray paint my name on a wall like i was there . haha . just kidding on that one . um . maybe damage the light housings , make them slightly uneven , maybe turn one off . more green to the lights for the atmosphere . a route map with colored lines and time/distance/location information .. that's all that comes to mind at the moment

Wow, nice ideas I like the gig poster, didn't think of that one. I will put you on the line up
Also the graffiti is a good idea too.. maybe a Banksy LOL
I think I will have one of the lights off and damaged, I have added wires as well since this render. The green tint is a nice idea too.
The bin I did think of, I wanted to do a mesh one with a trash bag in, I thought that would look cool but as you say maybe a bit of work. Do you know of any techniques that might make it easier?

i can think of a few ways to make that can but i'm not sure what would work for you in your program . 1) in C4D there is a spiral Spline that you could tweak to make the slats and cut a Tube and Cylinder for the top and bottom . 2) you could use a Deformer on a rectangle to bend the slats into shape . 3) you could start with a Cylinder and cut diamond shapes in the sides and give it a thick shadow around the corners with a gradient on the material

BTW the green tint in the light looks good, thank you

You should put a bin bewtween the stone bankes and maybe an old newspaper on the floor or so.
Wonderful work.
