Description It had taken a lot for her parents to get her out of Stepford. Lawyers, detectives and deprogrammers to find, free and break through all the programming she had been subjected to. It had taken months to find which of the Stepford gated communities she had been in, a few more months for her parents lawyers to get access to her and then a few more months to organise an escape by people who where not cheap to hire.
But they had done it. For their only little girl. They had moved heaven and earth to save her. By the time they had gotten her out she hadn't wanted to be rescued of course. She had been trained well in Stepford. Every woman was well trained there. Simple unbreakable little rules.
She had loved her life there. Pretty dresses and shoes she could wear every day instead of boring jeans and ugly shoes. Her wardrobe there grew quickly with outfits and accessories that made her so very happy. She had been such a tomboy before Stepford entered her life but now she couldn't think of wearing her old wardrobe without a panic attack at how unfeminine it was. She lived for girdles and petticoats. Been pretty for a man was so much better for her now.
Her boyfriend had arranged for her to be brought to Stepford. She had never known that he had such preferences before she woke up there. It had shocked her. But she couldn't bring herself to say anything bad about what he had done to her. She still loved him. Her parents and her deprogrammer kept telling her that her feelings for him weren't hers and that they would fade over time. For now though it felt like a vital part of her was missing.
She had been with her parents at a friends place in the country for a few months while the deprogrammer did his work. She hated her sessions with the man. He was such a slob and she found it hard to take a man seriously unless he wore a nice suit. But her parents insisted and she had always been such a good girl and did as she was told that she couldn't bring herself to tell them how much she hated what they had done. She could only hope they were right.
And then the call had come. She had been alone in the house for an hour while her parents were in town shopping. Her deprogrammer was resting after a long session where he had failed to convince her that she had once been so enthusiastic about her career. She couldn't imagine having a career now. A career was for men, she wanted, no needed to be a housewife. Nothing else made sense. She hadn't used the phone unsupervised in so long. But when she finally answered and heard his voice, she knew. Just knew. Everything made sense again. 'Slip out later and walk to the bus station. I'll pick you up there.' That was all he said before hanging up. But that was enough. That was all that needed to be said.
Here she was, walking to the bus station in her favourite dress she still had access to. Her parents didn't like her wearing it. But she knew how much he did. He had bought it for her on their honeymoon. He wanted his wife to be pretty and to be the envy of every man in Stepford. She couldn't walk very fast in it. But she could walk fast enough. And when she got there, she could go home to Stepford. Her favourite rule of love honour and obey had always been obey.

Wow!  Very cool tale.  I can see where some folks could consider Stepford a cult.
