Description
Second artwork from the traditional drawing & painting class I'm taking at Stanford. This is the Memorial Church from the Main Quad, pencils drawn from life and colors painted at home from a photo ref I took.I've taken one class like this (but less formal) back in Slovenia, about 4 years ago? I mainly did digital art in between (and pixel art for most of it) so this is a big diversion for me. Apart from my first watercolors attempt 4 years ago, this is my only go at it. It's stressful but also more enjoyable than I believed. Next up I'll try watercolor pencils in a mixed media piece.

Wow this is really good for only your second attempt at watercolors! I find them a bit stressful too. You captured the lights and shadows well and I like how you left some parts "unfinished."

That's the most fun for me, to have this transition from seeing the process (pencil), seeing that it's a painting (brushstrokes), and then go towards the subject which appears live. It's like a window into a world, so this play of negative space. Thanks for the nice comment.
