Hello there!
I'm from ProjectComment 's weekly commenting project and i am here to give you some constructive feedback on your artwork which hopefully will come in handy. HA!
First off, that is a real solid animation! That's coming from someone who is looking into animating recently so don't expect any criticism from my own experience. Though I still admire your work. The hand preserves its shape through and through and he motion is smooth, even though I would have wished for unique frames for the half of returning to its initial spot instead of having the same animation play forward and backwards in a loop. I just checked out your mushroom helicopter piece which does everything right in that regard :3 However, this hand animation as aforementioned, looks very nice. You gave it a life of its own and the more chunky style makes it look more cartoony, friendly and funny to be honest.
A thought of improvement would be to combine my criticism with its strength; find a way to fit more life into it by adding some more frames that would also make the loop more exciting. For example, it could do a stretch or 'look around' in some way.
Since there isn't really much more, I'll go over to the nitty gritty.
I think the line quality could have been worked over a little bit, especially in the first frame towards the thumb. The line quality looks like it differs during the animation but maybe that's just an optical illusion for me. The knuckles on the hand don't really look consistent throughout as if they were floating a little. But I know it definitely wasn't easy as the hand's movement wobbles up and down and left to right and I only noticed it during closer inspection. so I wouldn't consider it something to worry about.
I hope my feedback was of good use to you. I wish you a nice week :3

Hehe. Nice pun!
This is great feedback, and I think the major parts I wanted to get to work did actually work.
Oh, that's a great idea! I could totally see it stretching around as if "looking around"! And I agree, making it turn back in a different way would have been more fun to look at. If only animation didn't take so much time!
And I think everything you said is quite valid! The line quality is inconsistent, and I didn't bother going beyond a first step of cleanup, so
The knuckles don't actually float around, but they definitely look like they are because where I decided to put the lines "around" them in the keyframes was wildly inconsistent.
Thank you so much!

I remember specifically thinking how hard would it be to animate a walking hand... You mad man. Also how do you keep the recommendations from your gallery on the right side of tha page on topic? Tags?

Walking is even more difficult to pull off, I think. Maybe I'll do it one day. Not done with hands.
I wish I knew how to keep recommendations relevant. If I had to guess, I'd say, Category has a lot to do with it? I think for the "More from DeviantArt", Faves and Collections might be more important.

Yeah I bet figuring a walk cycle for the thing is some task. I heard of an anime film about a walking hand but I didn't watch it for obvious reasons.
Thanks for the idea! I'll just chuck all my old art into some god foresaken category like Resources and stock images>clipart
Wait no I can just put it in scraps actually...
I need to put effort into getting bigger here if I want my projects to succeed, but for so long my account was a total mess. I want a clearer narrative and style even if I can't get close to other artists in that regard. Can't seem consistent if every time someone checks my other art they see pixel art, a 5 year old scribble and badly pictured crafts

Oh, I saw it was on Netflix! But I didn't watch it either because a) it was only subbed and b) it didn't seem to go anywhere.
Have fun organizing!

You really have to stretch it trying to fit this concept into an entire film XD

That's a mood. I definitely had to work some of my schedule around a time slot in which I can animate
