If you want to make your own magic folding cube, it's simple in principle, although it can be time-intensive, especially if you need to make everything from scratch. The finished magic folding cube can then be folded like this . Here are the steps:

  • Get eight cubes
    • If you don't have cubes, here is a blank printable PDF template and here is another one, with the outer sides of the cubes in black
    • You can put designs on the different sides to distinguish the outer sides from the inner sides.
  • Decide which three sides of the cube should be on the outside and which one will be hidden on the inside (at least initially). Lay four of them in front of you and combine them in a way that only shows the outer sides. Do the same with the second set of four cubes.
  • Apply tape as shown in the animation.
  • Carefully fold the magic folding cube from the outer cube to the inner cube
  • and apply tape to these sides (on the outside, over the tape that is now on the inside). Alternatively, you can apply tape each to the corresponding inner side right after you glue each of the outer sides. Adding tape on each side of the hinges will make the cube more stable, especially when folding.Finished papercraft examples can be found here .

Cool. I'll try it out.  I might change it up not require as much tape - but we'll see.

    Thanks for sharing this!

This is super cool! I'll have to try it out sometime. I really like how you're turning all these origami (ish) things into animated instructions

I dunno. I'm barely on dA now these days
Mostly because I can't access it on my computer anymore because of eclipse.

Ah, that sucks. (I still turn it off as long as I still have the option)

I can't turn it off because I got logged out, and the default login screen is eclipse. :/

I think there's a workaround... Well, other than doing some code stuff. You can probably log into Sta.sh, which will also log you into DeviantArt

I think the login page from stash also brings you to the eclipse login. I'll try it when I have my computer though. My mum's sending it here because I have work to finish 😂

Worked for me without getting to the Eclipse login (don't know if you'll be able to deactivate Eclipse successfully afterwards, though - but maybe it'll be easier from a less load-heavy page like settings ).
Oh! There's another thing! When I first logged in I wasn't able to in Eclipse, at least when I tried it with my user name instead of my mail address (the mail address worked). So if you typed in your user name in small caps, Eclipse won't accept it, instead, you'll have to use My-Sword-is-Bigger with the correct capitalisation
