Description
The path of a hero is fraught with many perils, some of which are more subtle than others. Most of the calls you receive are simple, deceptively so. Sometimes, you forget that you’re occasionally obligated to place yourself into harm’s way in the defense of others, to witness events that are terrifying and tragic, and still persevere in the face of the staggering odds against you. The reminders of the risks you take - for yourself and others - may or may not be frequent, but they will come. Still, you put on a tough face against your foe, and a sympathetic smile for the thankful soul you just saved.
Then, when you return home, there’s nothing to hold back the thoughts that have been plaguing your mind. Whether it’s the criminal that got away or the victim that couldn’t, the guilt and self-doubt will eventually seize you. They tell you that you are not good enough. “Give yourself up.”
I cannot tell you honestly that it will pass. For a precious few it does, but far too often it resurfaces. What I can tell you, though, is that it is worth fighting. For what is to be gained by that surrender? Who is saved by giving up?
------
Today was rough for a couple of reasons, but I started this as sort of a tribute piece in regards to the shooting in Florida. I changed my mind soon after starting, feeling that such a ham-fisted idea of having a fictional character feel bad about real-world events was better left to those with better artistic expression. Still, my ache needed venting, and I wound up making this instead.

This is so beautiful, both the artwork and your description. I'm glad you posted this. I was heartbroken too from all the tragedies happening and I can feel the emotion when I look at this picture. For me, it helps to focus on all good things going on in the world. These tragedies bring us closer together as a community and we should grow stronger from love instead of living in fear and sorrow.

You shouldn't put your art down, you have great drawings and I always enjoy seeing things from your gallery. And it's no problem to vent, in my opinion it's better to express stress and sadness through art. Sometimes we have those days, so it's better out then to keep it all bottled up.
It's terrible to hear about the recent shootings, and I think this piece can be seen as tribute as well. We don't like to think about it, but not everyone can be saved, and there's only so much that we can do, which is something I think shows could try to express in their media. Yet, there can always be a hint of hope in the darkest of time.

It's not so much a question of talent as it is about presentation. The more I thought about it, the more I thought a tribute from me involving Jenny would seem rather ham-handed.

This make me think what if we can be able to talk with a fictional character and tell him all the wrongs thing that are happening in the real world? what would be her/his reaction? mostly those that were created to protect inocent people like superman, batman or Jenny. They would be very sad because they can't do anything for us.

At least SOME rays of light are getting through those clouds.

We all need to vent and give ourselves a little cry sometimes.
