I think Werner would usually be pretty smug about showing off his inventions, but he also isn't used to people getting so excited about it and Kahl's fangirling has thrown him for a loop. I figured that Kahl would be pretty excited to meet someone who lives like two blocks away and happens to have built a giant robot. I just love thinking about these two bonding over this stuff, it's so cute to me.

By the way, I'm not exactly sure how people interpret the house Werner lives in? My take on it is that it used to belong to some kind of giant but has recently been abandoned, and Werner just sort of... camps out in all the junk. I know that explanation isn't great, but it would explain why the cat appears to have free rein on the living space.
