Description
IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!You know I had to go through quite a few finished versions of this before I settled on what this currently is.
So here it is ladies and gentlemen, my absolute MASTERPIECE!!!
-Lore-Β
Yahar'gul, the unseen village, was a village built in secrecy for the School of Mensis- a branching institution from Byrgenwarth and possibly the Healing church- their purpose was to find ways to elevate humanity past their mortal stupidity, and to find enlightenment by "becoming one" with each other. How little they knew their failure would result at a great cost. The school of Mensis, secret as they are, are being watched and monitored by the Choir. Clearly, there's some rivalry and bad blood between them, seeing as we can find the corpse of a Choir member trapped in a cell of Yahar'gul.
The Hunters of Yahar'gul are hunters in name only, albeit their training is just as fearsome as any skilled hunter. These kidnappers would sneak out into the night, their black garb cloaking them in the darkness, the thick binding of rope around their garb doubles to fashion heavy armor protection, or be used to ensnare their prey. These hunters are synonymous with fear, and Death. Their only purpose is to go out and kidnap the people of Yharnam, so they may be brought to the school of Mensis. However, you really have to ask yourself, why do these hunters kidnap? Is because they are devoted to the ascension of mankind? Are they simply loyal soldiers following orders? Or are these hunters of the night fooled to believe that their kidnapping is meant to bring people into safety, after all, the night is filled with defiled scum, and no one is safe from the beasts. Perhaps these hunters believe they are heroes, saving people from obvious death.
For whatever reason, these hunters are not to be underestimated at any point, and are all fearsome warriors, unmerciful, adept and they are never alone. Using all forms of hunter techniques, these masters of the night have a fearsome history as warriors, and an even more terrifying reputation as Death's hands. Some even say these warriors are descendants of the feared Dark Wraiths, that plagued the ancient land long ago...
So this took me a month to complete, excluding vacation time, and a total of twenty or so hours to complete this peace. So please, I will be heavily thankful if you critique and comment this peace. As my first Bloodborne art, I wanted this to pay tribute to my favorite NPC's, and I wanted it to be more of an abstract piece, with the main focus of the piece not physically being there in the setting.
And to all my Bloodborne fans, please tell me what you think of this and of Yahar'gul for that matter. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this underestimated village. Thank you all for viewing, and hope to see you all soon. Take care out there, we'd hate to see you go Blood Drunk.
Also for those wondering about the guy with the glasses, that's Defector Antal. I drew him helmetless because he's a defector, and he wouldn't stand out with the helm on.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to analyze and critique my work. It means a lot to me.
I'm glad that the whole thing doesn't feel cluttered. My attention for detail can sometimes cause that, a cluttered mess rather than something with a lot to look at. And as for the Hunter Tools, I was happy to show off the different weapons of Bloodborne, and making them fit with each hunter by them either being actual weapons used by the NPC's or tailored to specifically made characters of mine. EX: The Burial Blade belonging to a Raven Yahar'gul Hunter and the Moonlight Blade belonging to a Choir Yahar'gul Hunter.
The hunter lacking a helmet is meant to be a character that you can summon in the game: Defector Antal. I drew him specifically this way because he's the only Yahar'gul hunter you meet that doesn't fight you, and actively helps you to put an end to Yahar'gul's madness. So naturally, he'd be the only odd one out by missing a helmet.
With all that said, I agree with you wholeheartedly. At the time (and still to this day) Faces are a field I definitely have room to improve on. Getting more depth on them especially and just making the anatomy look right overall. So in the future, I will double my efforts to make faces appear far more natural looking.
Thank you again for critiquing my work. Especially one so old, it makes me feel more motivated to get back into drawing more like this.
So I will continue my work, you can be sure.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous. The color and amount of detail is absolutely amazing! I love the lighting, and it's pretty clear you're going places with this kind of talent. the proportions are a little off but with the amount of presence and content this piece has, I'm positive that will be overlooked by most.
The eyes, or lack of them with some characters, are beautifully done. If I may offer a bit of advice, it would be to work on creating expression in faces, but other than that, it looks wonderful.
Thank you for showing the rest of us your creative genius.

Thank you for your critique, I'm glad to see this piece still grabbing attention. And I heavily appreciate the compliments!
"Thank you for showing the rest of us your creative genius"
"It's pretty clear you're going places with this kind of talent"
So sweet of you to think so highly of this amateur artist.
Advice is always welcomed, and that's what a Critique is all about, showing off your advice for improvements.
With that said, I'd love it if you could expand on that advice of yours. Which proportions do you think I should improve on?
And when you mention expressions, what did you have in mind?

You're welcome!
and somehow I don't believe that 'amateur' is the right word , your work is fantastic. I know I could never do something like it.
what I meant by the proportions thing was that was I noticed some of the wrists and hands of the people at the bottom of the piece and the nose of the one feral character seemed a little off. Same with the expressions, they felt a bit like they lacked the right...depth I think? I'm not quite sure. Either way, easily fixed, but I thought you might like to look into it. I have trouble with those things myself, so I hope that didn't come across as too harsh...

Too harsh? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
You typed that perfectly. And you're right about the wrists and such, because I actually did end up making a mistake on their gloves and tried to fix it.Β
AND YES, I definitely still need to work on faces.
But thank you for the constructive criticism.

Oh yeah, Antal. I figured after his reasons for defecting, he'd be pretty grim about it.
I just wish I drew his face better.
Thank you.

Uh oh, someone hasn't played Bloodborne...
Well long, obscure story short
Yahar'gul is the unseen village ran by the School of Mensis, which seeks to bring humanity to their perfection of evolution with the idea that "we must become one to become gods".
To do this, the Yahar'gul hunters were employed. Though fearsome warriors, they are hunters in name only. Their actual goal is to kidnap people during the night and bring them to the school. Whether you think they were actual operatives of the School of Mensis, soldiers doing their job, or people who thought they were the good guys; is entirely up to you to decide.
I drew this as a tribute to them, since they are the most badass looking hunters in Bloodborne

Wow O.o The colours are really, really pretty.
For a bit of critiquing, the comp is nicely put together, everything is blocked out pretty well, especially for an image as seemingly cluttered as this. You did a good job leading the viewers eye to what you want them to look at. As I mentioned earlier, holy crap those colours. It's really impressive that you can get them to the point where it really overshadowed your mistakes. If you've got anything to work on, it's gonna be anatomy, and some of your building angles. I think you could add a bit of shimmer along where the guy's cloak turns into the graveyard, but that I think is more of an aesthetic choice.
I've never actually played Bloodborne, but watched some playthroughs, and some of the Souls games, and I gotta say, you've done a great job on capturing the atmosphere of it.
9/10, that colour really does it for me xD

Thank you very much. Your time taken into writing the critique is really appreciated.
I agree, I could always work on more interesting angles for buildings, and anatomy is always an improving study.
I'm glad the colors stand out for you too.

The hunters of Yharnam, a city of blood resting above Yahar'gul a village unseen. All of whom seek prey, be it human or beast, if of course any humans remain. None of them are evil to be honest, all of them mad, following orders, end suffering or protecting those who they consider human. All of them trying to remain human while beasts roam the streets, unnatural otherworldly monsters crawl across the roofs watching their every action and the very blood coursing through their veins seeking to rid them of their memories their sanity. All of them suffering for the sins of their forefathers without knowing that. Some were heroes such as Ludwig and Gherman, others were just normal people before becoming hunters like Gascoigne and Djura. All trapped in a nightmare unending because of Laurence a man who wished to cure the world of ills, all because of scholars ransacking and experimenting with a fishing village.
None of them are truly evil, but all of them from Gherman the first hunter down to you, are all victims and actors in a brutal tragedy, all of them are pitiable.
Except for that guy with the rifle spear, screw him.

He has killed over the course of 4 playthroughs 38 times. He is fast, precise, deadly with an incredibly large health pool and deals massive damage. Is it any wonder I hate him? If he hunted beasts the night would end in one maybe two hours.

Either way, it wouldn't be a justified mural of the Yahar'gul hunters without spammy mc autofire.
