Description
Quick free-hand sketch of Yhorm the Giant from Dark Souls 3. I have to say, despite this being free handed, I feel I did a good job getting the accuracy done right.Next to the Abyss Watchers, Lonely Yhorm is my favorite of the Lords of Cinder, as he's not a freak who ate people till he turned to a black goo monster, or a whiny brat who refused his duty.
Yhorm was very tragic in that the people he served hated him, and even when he became a Lord, they still despised him. He fails to protect the one person he actually loved, causing him to discard his shield permanently. And after he became a Lord of Cinder, this caused his people to be burned alive, his only thoughts were that his people were ultimately right about him, and how he was nothing but a failure.
Poor Yhorm...

His hands are not what they used to be.
Silliness aside, he does sound like a tragic character. Is he a boss you fight or just an N.P.C?
What's free-hand?

His skin is like charcoal, cracked under fire, his face and body coated in scars. This is the price you pay, for fueling the flame.
He's a boss you fight. And while the gimmick of the fight makes him silly easy, if you choose to fight him without it, he can be quite the challenge.
Free-hand is when you draw without any references. Meaning I drew this without looking at a picture of yhorm or a reference for poses.

Oh, so pretty much everything I draw is free-hand. I've only used visual refs about as many times as you can count on one hand.

... so five times?
Well that's certainly good. Free-handing is a good method to get comfortable with your artistic style.
But drawing with a reference is a good way to educate and learn more about what you're drawing and drawing in general.
I would never be able to comprehend wrinkle physics unless I had a few visual references first.

Up to five times.
Yeah, I'm still learning how to draw wrinkles.
