He is one of the most celebrated figures in Chinese history and is often regarded as one of the greatest strategies of all time. Zhuge Liang is best known for his service to Liu Bei, the founder of Shu Han state, as a chief advisor and military strategist. Known for his intellect, wisdom and foresight, Zhuge Liang devised numerous military strategies and tactics that helped secure victories for Liu Bei's forces against the rival warlords such as Cao Cao and Sun Quan. His most famous military achievement is the battle of Red Cliffs, where he orchestrated a successful defense against thr much larger navy of Cao Cao. Zhuge Liang's legacy extends his beyond his military and political achievements. He is also revered for his scholarly pursuits particularly in the fields of literature, poetry and engineering. Zhuge Liang is often depicted as the epitome of the "wise and virtuous". During 234 AD, Zhuge Liang has died due to illness at the age of 53.
