Description
The BioMechanoid class vessel is a genetically tailored life form created by the ancient and long vanished Oerthan Civilization. Taking 10 years to grow to maturity, the vessels are sentient, though programmed with detailed behavioral traits, and very capable of carrying out complex assignments without crew. They are, however designed to carry and interact with a crew. Bonding strongly and cybernetically to thier Captains, the two beings share mental rapore and the BioMech vessel often takes on complimentary traits that help the ship and captain become a strong and well rounded team. The loss of a captain has been know the drive a BioMech Vessel insane with rage and anguish. Often focusing that rage upon the percieved source of the loss. This has led to rare but legendary genocidal rampages by a particular vessel lasting centuries. The Kreigspar class vessels are massively armed, they are able to change thier weapons and even hull configurations over time to optimised themselves for warfare against varied foes. this class is capable of 'birthing' it's own designs for Biomech fighters, destroyers and cruisers from internal stores of biomass and hydrocarbons. And they are able to reporduce, though this act takes considerable access to large quantities of Hydrocarbons and hydrogen for replication over an externded period of time (about 30 standard days). At the end of this cycle of 'Gorging' the Kreigspar class vessel with then exspell hundreds of energiezed eggs into the upper atmospher of a gas giant. after 1 standard year the eggs have grown into small sized vessels able to take on crew or operate independantly. If no guiding force (usually the Mother ship) comes to collect these functional but immature vessels, they will continue to grow until mature or collected. once natured within the gas giant, they will go to 'sleep' slumbering and awaiting the day they are awakened for service by the right signal.
This has led to the occasional discovery of still sleeping Warships found in gas giants throughout the galaxy. Some have even been sucessfully awakened and crewed. Others, when awakened, begin a terrible campain of destruction within the star system they born to and will not rest until all percieved threats are eliminated. then they return to thier timeless sleep, dreaming away the ages....

Could not come up with a good pose to show off the hull of this ship. It is just to complicated to show well in one shot.
I sort of am very frustrated with the scenes for many reasons. I want the dark look, and to be able to show the details too. but am not really experienced enough to pull it off well I think. Sorry.
Hope you Like, Larger in DL
Background I have no clue where I got it. I usually write it in the filename, but this one was just "Class M Planet". I believe it is from a stock website and not DA, but if recognised I am happy to cred the artist.

More great work.
Can you separate the background from the ship in postwork? If you can, then tweak the light separately. Also, and you may have tried this, but, use all aspects of light, ie, shadow darkening, contrast brightness, etc... even a touch of color saturation can do wonders for detail...
I think the download version is outstanding!!

I sorta have a bad habit of turning the ambient up enough to see the details. So I am usually not doing enough shadows on purpose.
But, I have been trying to do better
Mostly, the current program I use, Corel Dream3D has very limited lighting settings and effects. the atmospher set just greys out the whole thing at best. Basically, I already do alot of touch-ups in post, and am still learning to play with the lighting. it's sort of hit-n-miss until I get good enough at lightwave to actually start doing stuff
So, I'll try out some of your ideas, but don;t expect much
Thanks for the advice my friend, always appreciated

Practice, practice. Note: you need contrast/shadows in lite doses to get detail, I've found. You're doing great, BTW! Go go go!
Most welcome. Any time.

I especially love the look from the front. The outriggers look very aggressive from that angle, and it's a great thing.

The ship looks awesome, rfalk, from every angle here. I particularly like the claw like sides (they remind me a bit of an invid! ) The colouring and texturing is nice and the background fits it perfectly.

Thanks Tons Amiga!
Hmmm, Yea, I can see the Invid there. Guess I get that for all the Invid Mechs I drew over the years. Wish I could find those and post some.
Hope you like the Next one. Maybe a little to much for you, I KNOW how you RDF pilots hate violence n such
Thank you for the great comments G

Well, I thank you Lots for even comming to look Amiga! that was super sweet of you!
You don't need to know anything about Scifi or ships n such to know you like the way something looks or don't sweet one. Just always call it as you see it
A for space ships, just Remember, they ALL should look like Mine. If they don't then they are terribly, horribly wrong and should NOT be looked at! Ever! By Anyone!

Yes, just gotta find a sleeping one. figure out how to awaken it without it getting pissed, Let it Mess with your genetic code and remake you so you can Bond with it. and then just have it start making warships. should take a month for your 'Death Armada' to be ready for Galactic Conquest

Thank you!
I wanted that "starship captains worst nightmare" feel to it.
Betcha A Vulcan would STILL look at this and say "we should try and communicate with it Captain."

SiathLinux In reply to rfalk [2008-01-20 16:43:30 +0000 UTC]
That's true, the Vulcan would want to communicate.... Klingons would cloak and play target practice
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rfalk In reply to SiathLinux [2008-01-20 19:01:10 +0000 UTC]
And the Klingons would die, as Klingons tend to do, often
To many ways to detect a cloaked ship, according to the movies, Next Gen and so forth. But the easiest way, assuming the Klingons have the kewlest and newest of the cloaks available (Nemesis Romulan style) would just be to saturate the area the silly, shieldless ship, just fired from with a few gigatons of multiple fire from LOTS of different weapons.
If it's sheilds were Up and upcloaked they'de stand a better chance. As I designed a serious flaw into the Kreigspar.
I am assuming a similarity of weapons n sheild strengths, As I didn't really make this for the Star Trek genre. Never really know who'd come out on top in crossovers unless we had realistic tech specs on the ships. I always liked the Star Destroyer VS Enterprise gambit

SiathLinux In reply to rfalk [2008-01-20 19:32:23 +0000 UTC]
Star Destroyer would pwn an Enterprise easily (especially since all of tie fighters would be out and about and the enterprise has a 'non armed' transport pod)

rfalk In reply to Ikscale [2008-01-20 12:34:43 +0000 UTC]
Thanks Ikscale! I took a long time to decide what a good BioMech SHOULD be able to do, given a sufficiently high Genetic Tech Level. These babies use micro-bots to repair and/or alter themselves, Similar to Nanites, just bigger (grain of rice say) and with many more capabilities.
Have to say I took many different ideas from Shows like Farscape, Lexx, and such. But mostly I just thought out what I would want the vessels to be able to do. Then had to figure out how it did it
The Nice thing is I know pretty much everything about the ship. the Bad thing is no one but me really gives a spit about such minute details. So the effort is fairly wasted except for my own enjoyment

I must say I really like the design and colors/textures of this vessel. The ship looks very aggressive and powerful, and its "strangeness level" is nearly perfect in order to give it sufficient scifi-feeling.
