Description
You are hundreds of feet deep in the earth, looking back the way you came. As the canyon twists and turns, sometimes at seemingly impossible angles, the walls grow steeper and steadily more impressive. This was taken in the heart of the awesome Bullvalley Gorge. I really need to post a scrap of the unfortunate pickup truck that's wedged in the top of this canyon.

Great shot, and great gallery! It's wonderful to see AZ photography. The pickup truck bit is hilarious. I wonder if it was Hayduke's...

Yeah, I guess it would be slightly amusing if you didn't know about the circumstances that lead to it being wedged in the top of the canyon. It's fascinating, in a way. In the 1950s, three guys died in the middle of the night when their truck stalled on the other side of the bridge (or something) and they rolled backwards into the canyon. One was crushed inside the cab and the other two fell faaaar below to the canyon floor.
Thanks for checking my stuff out and taking the time to comment.

Great shot. Would want to give a more extensive analysis, but can't find the correct words at the moment...

The angle you have the picture at, and the natural erosion of the canyon makes me think "rollercoaster!!" the minute I look at this. I love it! For a picture of something as stable and still as a canyon wall, you've managed to suggest a huge amount of motion.
Fantastic!

That would be difficult to climb!...Is the gorge sandstone? The layers of strata are gorgeous! The composition of the pic seems a little odd, but nothing I can put a finger on. Probably just me.

Though it would be fun, you don't have to climb the walls to get out. The canyon takes a sudden (and narrow) turn to the right just beyond the large boulders in the picture. The exceptionally thick layer of relatively soft Navajo sandstone is responsible for countless slots in the southern Utah/extreme northern Arizona region.

In typical slot-canyon fashion, this one varied from shoulder-width at points to as wide as you see here (from the left wall to the large boulders on the right). This was an unusually wide point that allowed for a lot of reflected light to bounce down into the canyon.
