Description
This is my one and only DND character, Rikaak! They are so much fun to RP, even though they are an absolute coward. Please zoom in for details.Art and character Β© me

This looks like a Kenku at first glance, until you realize the wings and blue eyes. Aaracokraa are more...broad in stature and colorful, to convey flight. I'd recommend adding some markings- perhaps some dark greens and purples to the character, like a black pigeon would?

Hi Im Ribbon's Dm!
Personally, as a Dm I dont focus on the concreteness of the races in my games. Not cause they aren't important but considering this is set in a completely homebrewed DnD 5e game with its own lore and stories and isnt set in the forgotten realms, I am happily ready and willing to let my players imagine with me, which is what i think its all about in the end about dnd (having fun and creating stories together.) Yes Kenku are naturally more like ravens or crows, but then the mainΒ distinction between the two arent their colours but their ability to talk and fly and lack thereof. Its all up for interpretations as I have seen darker coloured aarocokra. In the end as long as my players are happy with their characters and also generally fit the description of the race (Kenku<- characterized with no wings while arrocokras can fly so wings vs non wings?) and aren't being racist to real world cultures I consider it fine.

I wanted to play an aarakocra and also like ravens- my DM had no problem with them looking like this, especially considering my character's history/lineage (which i did not post here so as not to spoil the rest of my party). It's all for fun and the dnd races guidebook is more loose guidelines for my group than set in stone anyways!Β
If you do want to go by the guidebook, what I found on aarakocra was this: "Males are brightly colored, with feathers of red, orange, or yellow. Females have more subdued colors, usually brown or gray." Though I didn't create Rikaak with this in mind, they are afab so technically they fit the official description in terms of colour.
