Yesss I have some too - one with the original ropes still on it and one without. Big ones, too.
My grandfather lives on the Pacific West Coast (Northern BC) and finds these all the time. He has a shed full of them, hanging from the ceiling too. Super cool when it's full of light.

Yess - the ropes are this hand-woven stuff and have a super neat old texture, and it's all knotted into this web. Super cool. I've taken a picture of it if you want to see how the knots look - it's in my scraps.

Nope, the card can't take much water, I have to use tiny amounts at a time. It dries in seconds, too...the background texture comes from a lotta layering, and some white pencil shading in the darker blue areas

Oh, I see, well the effect is beautiful, nonetheless, and you must has incredible patience, even when it dries quickly. I prefer to practice with wet on dry, but I'm so impatient when it's drying so I usually mess it up ;u;

Sometimes I turn around from my computer just in time to see a bunch of moths making their way up the outside of the glass...I leap up and slam the window shut, and victory is mine! 8D
