This photo was taken this past Spring, when hundreds of these amazing birds were congregating in the trees around our house. And only males with
their bright, luminescent head. One thing I like about the Grackle is that he always spends most of his time looking up.Such a positive outlook.

When I lived in Austin and worked on the exteriors of houses, I would converse with grackles. I didn't know the language, but it didn't stop them from chatting. Wonderful birds.

There is also a Mexican Grackle. This one I photographed in Mérida, in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.

YES! Those small pupils stare right thru us!!!!
THAT was a lucky shot....it was snowing small flakes, I believe......

I DO like the looks of the uppermost bird...for a painting...
but I've done a couple of birds lately....and am searching for
new avenues of exploration...and it's hard!!!

The multitude only stayed a few minutes ~ some, like these, came to my feeder.

I've have similar situations around my yard. One day there was an invasion of around three dozen crows.
