After more than 40 years with the same Local Area Network Corporation, we found our LAN line wasbeing abused ~ by nuisance telemarketers, survey takers and miscellaneous scammers, ONLY.
So, I decided to drop it. Cell phones REALLY are taking over. And I get plenty of unwanted
called on that. There is no winning.

Yes, a land line seems an anachronism in this day and age. We often still need one in the UK for internet connections with some companies and as a form of identification with your bank though, thankfully, this is now dying out.Β

If I'm going incognito, so be it!!! I reached my personal threshold of disgust when
the Huge Phone Corp raised our monthly fee by $2, to $31 a month: 95% of the calls
were from scammers, politicians, people doing surveys, people asking for $$$$, etc etc etc. Enough was
enough!!!! We'll see how long it takes for my humble cell phone to catch up to the corruption.

It turns out that most of our rural areas have no signals for mobiles....That wasn't too bad as they still had phoneboxes along roads for travellers in trouble...but......some are vandelised....or been removed...so don't break down ..or have an accident because you will have to walk for help!!!

Thank you Trish for your phone situation.Β Truth is Capitalism has gone on steroids here. Nobody we KNOW uses our LAN LINE, just sales aND con artists. Why pay for THAT? I THINK the old steam engine is The Corporation. Maybe.The lines are drooping.
