Description
Reading this WATERCOLOR from left to right, one might justifiably get the feeling that somethinghas gone quite wrong. The shiny, bright and happy horse we once rode at the fair has turned into something right
out of The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Yeah, you've read this correctly, my dear Trish. And perhaps I really, REALLY shouldn't be
quite so transparent. And reading the internet, seems women have a far easier time of 'seeking out
others' (always women friends) than men. My wife goes out with her 'Hispanic Crowd', to breakfasts,
movies, the farmers market, etc etc. Women bond together. Men go to Group Therapy to try to fix
our male problems. It''s all rather ridiculous ~ if only it weren't reality!!! This truly, as I said already
(above) is not a pretty picture ~ but it surely is honest. And bless you kindly for writing...for understanding!
We'll keep in touch ~ seems all I have now a few very excellent friends on DA....and maybe it isn't enough,
but it'll have to do...for now!
Hugs...from Dick

I really cannot get into FB either. My wife and I have accounts,
to follow the adventures of our son. Otherwise, it's soooo silly!!!
WOW, the personal data we choose, CHOOSE, to put up for grabs
to the rest of the world.
And WOW, we have a drunk driver prob here too. Did you know that,
world-wide, it costs more $$$ to rehabilitate alcohol abusers, than all the
$$$$ spent on booze?
Thanks for your friendship, Trish...it makes me a happier person:

I joined facebook because a Canadian cousin asked me too keep in touch...but she s ends emails as well . Dozens of them...Can't keep up with everything...Only put arty things on it..if anything!!I know its one way of seeing how people are getting on but it can be silly...and nosey too!
We are supposed to be stopping too much drinking but the supermarkets have aisles upon aisles just full of drink and cheap booze has appeared in huge shops....where there are extra offers of cheap drink!!......Ilaughed the other day when our Sainsbury's supermarket had a sign saying that you had to prove that you were over 25 before you could buy any alcoholic drinks....Hilarious I think....!!
Thanks Dick....I so enjoy our little chats!!

I comprehend about Facebook. I had an account around 2002...for about two weeks.
Seems a girl in my high school, a year younger, decided to write me every day...and I HAD
to respond!!! I put up with two weeks of this...and then ended the account. I think FB has
initiated some changes for the better ~ but I don't know what they are. Liquor is NOT YET
sold in our supermarkets....perhaps 3.2(%) beer...not sure. So much tragedy associated
with alcohol ~ car crashes, and domestic violence almost ALWAYS involves alcohol. We're
having a terrific problem with deaths associated with so much texting while driving. I'm
not feeling as safe as I used to...and wish I could take home my school bus. It's like a tank!!!

A school bus sounds like a good idea.....I get lots of faves on D.A from young men that probably want to move over to the uk....I just don't reply if their art is non existent.
Texting is getting as bad here...and people listening to music on their phones while crossing roads etc.

I submitted a piece entitled LOOK UP, a message for those who are busy looking down
at cell phones, etc etc.I just saw a kid, texting with his phone as he rode his bike thru an
intersection. And at the same time, they've got ear buds in, listening to music as they're
walking along. I could never get into iPods ~ I like the sounds around me, except for
vacuuming. Yep, School Buses are built strong, and the best thing: NOBODY (except
really crazy people) ever hassles with one.

I like my music all around ...not through headphones or buds....Give me a concert hall with live music...or our tele has wonderful sound...and we get radio programmes on it with music recorded at concerts. Sometimes the ones I've been to
Our children are just as bad!!!They are not allowed them in school though!!

Well, I'm glad! It may not be pretty, ...but it's honest.
Thanks for writing:
