Description
This rather sad and surreal watercolor is thepainting I finished the day my son left home...today.
Somebody is missing at the window...and

when I'm feeling better.

One of my favorites ~ of all time! ~ happy to say I sold it
to a deviant, and sad to see it go! Better than spending its life
under our living room couch!
richard

I thank you. That's why I stick to watercolors ~ the textural possibilities.
Kind regards...richard

Well, thanks, I guess. We can only credit our
creator for their beauty; I just copied from some
of my photos, taken by Lake Superior. (I did rather
have to invent some color for them!) Glad you
enjoy the painting....

Thanks Do you come from Sweden yourself?

richardcgreen In reply to NordicLynx [2012-09-08 20:27:52 +0000 UTC]
No, just a lot of Grandparents, and maybe some
Great Grandparents. They settled along Lake Superior
as that part of the country resembles, I imagine, Sweden.
I was born and raised for ten years in Duluth, Minnesota.
My dad's parents were: mom, Swedish and his dad, British
Canadian (English). His name was Jennings, but as his
parents, once arrived in Duluth, were dead of typhoid fever,
he was adopted by the Green family. Hence, my adopted name.
Sorry for rambling...
Thanks for asking: dick g

That's interesting Do you know which part of Sweden they came from?

richardcgreen In reply to NordicLynx [2012-09-08 21:24:55 +0000 UTC]
Many from SmΓ₯land, I believe. I know
my mom's mom, was born in a specific town
which I could find for you, if interested,
but that too was in SnΓ₯land. Around 1879.
She worked as a servant girl, in a home.
I think they (including the Swede she married
in Two Harbors, MN) were having a hard time
getting enough food to feed themselves.
Hard to believe. She came over here in 1903,
on a ship called the Luvinnia or something
like that. Her name was Anna Sophia Ohlund. A great
cook, she worked cooking in Duluth for the famous
American writer, Sinclair Lewis, who was at that
time researching his book Cass Timberlane.
He wanted to learn Swedish, especially after receiving
the (Swedish) Nobel Prize for literature: Main Street.
That's about it!! Again, sorry for ramblin.' dick g

Well, there was a famine in Sweden back then and many left for the States. I'm guessing that her name was Γhlund, but then it has become Americanized. But that's a very interesting story. I love history

THANKS so much, mon Cher!
For whatever motivated it, I REALLY
need material for my Surreal Groups!
Except for the pretty birds, this is
out of a bad dream, which incidently,
I REALLY didn't have. Thankfully...

Well, as of yesterday, NEXT is becoming a bus driver again.
I asked for and was given a 'newer' bus (a 2006) and for the
next four working days, I shall go up to the terminal which is
only a mile from where we live, and start to unwind its mysteries.
I have my pre-trip and behind-the-wheel evaluation next Wednesday...
at 7:20AM. Yikes. Not sure if much art will be forthcoming for a
little while, unless it's something OLD. Yuk.

PS Note I changed the name of Window Feeder.Something
new for you to find... THANKS for all...
