Description
Caitlin Fairchild of Gen13. 11x14, cool and warm grey copic markers, white ink, and prismacolor white pencil.Commission completed for pick-up at Heroes Con. This was a pose I had intended for Superman, if I ever had the time, but when I received the Fairchild commission, strength being her power/ability, I decided to apply it to her.
The client (Thanks Bill!) told me to go with either sexy or powerful, and I tried to kind of walk the line between the two. The idea with the worms eye is that she's either knocked you on your butt, or has just saved said butt, however you want to interpret it, which of course will affect whether it's more of a fighting or sexy pose - but I tried to make that as much viewer interpretation as presented in the art itself.
As an added hurdle, a pose from this angle can also be tricky when you're dealing with women, as there's always the possibility of it coming across as more sexist/objectifying than sexy/empowering. Still, if it's good enough for Superman...

Yep, that would be the view most criminals would have of her, after the fight (providing they're still conscious). Almost worth getting the crap knocked out of you for a view of that landscape.

Ahhh gen13, I'd almost forgotten about this comic book after all these years!! Wow - what a difficult perspective to take on but you've executed it perfectly here, Caitlin Fairchild has never looked better. Fantastic illustration and an easy choice to instantly fav! Well done.

If you had given her short hair,I would have thought she is Raven
from Teen Titans.

Worm's eye is probably the toughest angle to work with. Great work. I think you did capture a sense of empowerment rather than exploitation, personally, so kudos!

Thanks! Worm's eye is really hard, but when it works, it's to great affect. When I look at this piece at an angle it looks better.

Yeah. Well, I'm also amazed what you're doing with traditional media. I've gotten so used to digital coloring, I don't know if I still could do it with pencil or marker! I guess you could adjust the perspective in PhotoShop!

Thank you! I was worried when working on the light that it wouldn't come across well, btu I think it works just fine.
