The place itself is awesome, a wild mountainous valley with ruined temples.

The Greeks are good at sculpting marble from the same quarry that the originals came from into pieces that fit perfectly with the fragments. I have several photos of the Parthenon in my gallery showing where they have done tis on a large scale.

They are very beautiful! I'd love to travel and visit those areas someday to see them for myself. Over in the valley there was an exhibit at a major museum that was done on Pompeii. They had brought over samples of actual pieces from Pompeii and other museums to show there and it was amazing to see. I know it's not related to Greece as that was in Italy, however, the influence was still there. It was incredible to see.

I spent a week near Pompeii in 2015, visited the old city 4 times, took many photos. I haven't uploaded any yet, but there are several from Herculaneum in my gallery.

Very much so. We hired a driver so that we could spend the day unencumbered by tour operators.
