Very very nice! I like how a few stars came out too. Now that I have an (old) SLR, I have to start messing around with that kind of stuff...

wow O.O everythign seems so radiant and beautiful, the water is so clam and the way the skyline just disappears off in the distance adds real settling ambience to this picture.

that little house on the end of the wharf, i really wish that i could go there and sit in it ^^ everything around it looks so nice.

Thanks, my friend! Actually we used to sit in there for ages, looking at the fish swimming by and waiting for sharks I'm glad you like it, it was a magical place. (Incidentally, the long exposure... 20 seconds I think... means that the little ripples on the water get smoothed out which is why it looks even calmer than it really was. It also gives that slightly milky look to the water - very cool )

ahhh, thats why its so calm, it is the ocean right? so there is normally waves, but i can understand the effect of the exposure now. and the milky texture is quite cool as well ^^

Neat, huh? There are people out there who do a fab job of that kind of "milky wave" shot.

Beautiful warm tones. With the lighted boats in the right side and the pier in the center it feels a little heavy on the right side.

Actually I agree with you about the boats, although they do add interest. I'm tempted to clone them out - I might have a go at that and see how it looks. Anyone else have a view?

Maybe instead of cloning the boats out if you moved the pier a little to the left that might help, or you could try to ether clone or mask the lights on them and then it would feel more balanced.

A good idea, canadianice - I like the symmetry of the pier in the centre (rule of thirds is great but sometimes you just need to break the rules lol) but masking the lights is a cunning plan...

I agree on breaking the rule of thirds, I was thinking more of just croping it so that you still have the pier in the middle but just slightly ( like maybe just the with of the posts) of set to the left. Still an awesome location.

Thank you very much! In a way the composition is a bit obvious but I agree - it was the colours here that made it irresistible for me
