Someone else's rhythms comma. Oh, that comma, implying as it does the continuum of the work life. And the feeler gauge? Brilliant. You could have used any other measuring device, but this one works so well. As an aside, do cars even have points anymore? The feeler gauge was for setting the gap, as I recall.

Thanks! That feeler gauge sat in my scraps for so long, and then last week there was the phrase "someone else's rhythms," - and the long fuse reached the creative blasting cap. Good catch on the point gap - that's right, lots of cars don't have them any more. I don't know if any do, I go to my younger son for that kind of info. (My "external brain" for that sort of thing, as I am his for various subjects.) But feeler gauges would still be used for spark plug gaps, perhaps? The graphic is from a wonderful old auto mechanics book.

Do cars even have spark plugs? So much has changed...I remember when I was renting an apartment in a shady part of a town, the guy upstairs (after I complained about his unrelenting blasting of metal music), removed the distributor cap from my car in the lot and...poof, gone! What a nice surprise to wake up to! Of course those were the days before hoods and gas caps locked.

hmmm... I think they have spark plugs... but they last much longer than they used to.
I remember distributor caps - yeah, cars were vulnerable back in the day. Which made people vulnerable. Oh, those guys upstairs in those shady parts of town!

funny because your previous post what about "words hate me", and here your collage says "someone else's"
and i made a collage about my relationship with words back in May and it came with words that include "someone else's": [link]
