Weirdly mythic and that winking 7. Nice. Slightly brooding.

Thank you, I appreciate that take on it very much. A strange one that was done quickly and worked out pretty well.

Not sure how it translates in English, but in French, antlers and woods (golf) translate the same way... which makes your image quite ironical.Β

Ha! There is no equivalent to that in English - that's great, thanks!

Shapes and things speak very ancient language, which was spoken in caves of Lascaux and near graves of Newgrange. Except overturned chair of course. The stranger in the town... I'm very curious, what will happen on page 8

This is splendid. I haven't seen deer antlers used inventively for such a long time. Leave it to you to come up with a new way of seeing.

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2013-10-30 15:08:29 +0000 UTC]

That's very generous - thanks, Laura. It was a matter of waiting this week - these scraps were all headed to different projects from this one, but I didn't glue anything down. Then I saw this and it did feel new - and I glued it together right away.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LauraTringaliHolmes In reply to RichardLeach [2013-10-30 22:47:40 +0000 UTC]

And perhaps that is a collagist's secret. I have a problem letting scraps sit around unglued. Maybe somebody should write an article on the psychology of letting-things-develop....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2013-10-31 17:19:38 +0000 UTC]

Interesting comments in the interview with Lou Beach in the current Kolaj. He said sometimes he lets things sit before gluing them and other times he grabs pieces and glues away. I wasn't knocked out by his work - but I related to that. Most of the time stuff sits... but other times I just go.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LauraTringaliHolmes In reply to RichardLeach [2013-10-31 22:05:41 +0000 UTC]

I stick it down and ask why later. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I get a little anxious when something is in place but not glued, actualy. Like it's going to run away? Oh, psychology!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2013-10-31 22:37:16 +0000 UTC]

I get a little anxious but not too much. The funny thing is, I can't really see what I've done until pieces are glued down. Sometimes they look just right and then after they are glued - awful! So I will glue without complete certainty so that I can really see. There's something psychological there too - I don't know why it makes such a difference.

The stag in disguise reaches out to the restaurant chair upturned for the night. I think he's hinting he's needs a midnight snack. Hiding in the night his love of chicken cacciatore from the other deer. They only eat grass.

Very fine, Richard.
Aside from the imagery, I like the airiness of the composition -- airy but not empty.

Thanks much, Ken. Getting a few elements to hold a lot of space is something I really enjoy when I can pull it off.

Deep admiration for the way you do that, as you know.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to LauraTringaliHolmes [2013-10-30 15:49:33 +0000 UTC]

It's an interesting way to work. Using a few elements invites the viewer to take them seriously - creates the perception that they should be - but then they have to deliver.

I will comment only after i can form proper sentences Β΄cos iΒ΄m laughing now .. maybe i have to search for page 8 for instructions to interpretate this . On the other hand , it makes perfect sense to connect moon of page seven , that looks like feminine lashes and antlers .. and upturned chair over monolith like pillars , this must be Stonehenge

it looks like an eye! but it's a 7 with a very simple graphic to draw attention.

reminds me of the eye of yours that was in Dafydd's exhibit in the collab with Ilil
