Thanks very much. I'm happy when my work has that effect, of a meaning just out of reach.

thank you very much, that is nice to hear! there are a number of good collagists here - our work does get a little lost in the flood of less serious stuff.
if you look in my faves gallery in the "collage" folder you may see more work you like. and your english is just fine

(when the clutch noice is heard)
I sit very still – counting my fingers and my toes not to scream right out loud.(SOL)
Nice one Richard

This is like the unchoreographed intro to a song... I can't explain, but nothing visual ever struck me like that before.
Took me to a new part of my brain today that I didn't know was there.
How lucky is that?!

Wow, what a great description and marvelous compliment, ML! Thanks so much.
For what it's worth, this is one of the most intuitive pieces I've ever made... I think it came from a part of my brain that I'm just getting acquainted with.

When the clutch noise is heard, remember to shift the gears.
This is a nice looking collage. I like the little red piece near the upper left corner. It's perfect.

so true. much more active than we sometimes think - i have read that when we remember something the brain assembles bits and pieces of it that are stored in various places.

I remember the first stick-shifts of (Bedrock). Multiple Grindstones that would alleviate the wear-and-tear of foot breaking.
The sound of the clutch was heard instead of the skidding of Fred's feet.

oh, wow, it's so delicate, I love it. i just wish the last sentence would be a bit smaller, because the center part deserves all the attention, in my humble opinion.

thanks very much. i think you're right about that sentence. (it does stand out a little more in the scan than in person.) i really appreciate the reminder to stay with the delicate stuff when it's working. i'm in strange artistic waters with this stuff, comments help me figure out what i'm doing.

you're welcome, Richard. I'm always amazed at your composition skills, so I thought i might point this one out. then again, of course a scan is never the real thing!

thanks for the kind words, Isabelle. I have even changed pieces that looked good to me in person because the scans did not seem as good! But I was actually happier with them in the end.

I use Elmer's All Purpose Glue Stick. It doesn't wrinkle any papers, it's permanent (says it is anyway) and it's archival - non-acidic and can be dissolved in water.
I used to use acylic gel medium, I liked it but it wrinkled some of the cheap papers I use.
How 'bout you?

landkee In reply to RichardLeach [2010-02-04 16:59:10 +0000 UTC]
Right now Elmer's as well and Mod Podge for coating. I am constantly trying different things though. And I yet to find acrylic gel medium at my local store ( yes, I can order online... ).

I had to order acrylic medium online - no art supply stores near where I live presently.
I haven't been using coatings, I'm concerned about mod podge over some of the old funky papers I use. Does it leave things basically as they are?

Yea, sometimes it bubbles paper up. I just do several layers now - at first very small amount and then normal.

yes, this is like a memory that eludes precision. a name that just won't come to you when you try so hard and then ... later ... after you have given up. plop, there it is: Jennifer Grindstoner. i think that was her name

A texture fest to accompany the music of the clutch noise. Reminds me of my old hit-em-in-the-rear-and-they-explode Pinto. It was red, too, just like the touch at top left. Lovely!
