Description
Finished #2 of the three fan fusions that I've planned to make. This time around it's Amethyst and Peridot.Β While designing this fusion, I came to realize the similarities between the relationship between Amethyst and Peridot and the one between Ruby and Sapphire. To keep it short, Ruby is the hot to Sapphire's cold, while Amethyst is the brawn to Peridot's brains. These similarities I wanted to show in this fusion.Personality-wise, this fusion would have the qualities of a leader as she would be strong, and decisive, like Garnet. Unlike Garnet however, she would act more "human" like being more talkative, and displaying her emotions more frequently. The one flaw this fusion would have initially though is that she would try too hard to be like Garnet, constantly trying for Garnet's acceptance. After realizing how she is everything Peridot, and Amethyst wish to be, the fusion would want to stay perma-fused, using Garnet as a role-model. However, Garnet, seeing how the fusion was not born of love but of insecurity, would inevitably not accept the current her.

I like it, though I wonder if she did fuse would she have multiple eyes or arms like most fusions. some fusions seem have multiple legs, arms, and eyes but others not as much as some and wonder why, opal has two eye sides but four arms, garnet has three eyes nod regular body, and most other fusions seem be multipleΒ

Probably the coolest fan-fusion I've seen so far, and definitely the coolest Ame x Peri fusion I've seen. I love everything about her! From her design to her personality. Dang, simply put: Amazing!

Ok i have to say, not only is this design amazing, but it follows the guidelines of the series style just perfectly, like even for a non-canon character it still looks as if it could belong part of the actual series itself.Β
i have to ask, how do you do it? i'm studying animation right now, and our current assignment is to design a character that belongs in the series, so i pushed for my main Gem to look more SU style, but i just cant seem to get it just right. Is it the outlines and the line width that defines the style? I try really hard to get the shape language right (there's a more updated version not currently on my page) but i'd love to learn from you how its doneΒ

Yes lining is one of the defining things about the show's style, along with design and color palette. On the topic of lining, the style is basically a series of convex and concave lines where the middle sections of those lines are emphasized with wider line widths, which get smaller as you move from the middle to the ends of the lines. However there are situations where you can just make lines that have a consistent line width from start to end. Line width emphasis really varies where, and when it is used in the show style ( at least for me) so my best advice is to watch episodes, look at stills, and really analyze the lining of the characters from them to get an understanding of the style (and what I horribly tried to explain).

yeah after seeing this one i started to work more on the outlines to see if it made any difference and so far i've gotten a few people in class who said that it fits into the shape family a bit better than before, also your explanation was very helpful

This is one impressive fusion between Peri and Amethyst, and I love the concept behind her too! Her design is great, I like how she looks so casual yet has that warrior vibe to her, her gloves are really cool honestly also. Nice work!

The "trying too hard to be Garnet" can be the focus of an episode, and we shall see how this fusion reacts to her insecurity and maybe how Pearl or Steven helps it overcome the aforementioned trait.
