Description

The K class was designed by Inry Bodagh in 1890. The class was based on research of the Magical Quadruplets, which they later found out were Furness Railway K2s, but instead of 4-4-0s they were 0-6-0s.

These small engines were primarily used for passenger duties, alongside the occasional goodstrain. Four of them were built, the prototype being finished by February 1892. Following his completion, he underwent a two year long trail to see if he would be an effective design. This turned out to be the case, and in November 1894 three more were ordered. They were finished by August 1895, being put into service immediately.

By 1932, all four of them were worn out, so they were overhauled and given higher pressure boilers and belpaire fireboxes.
