Description

The K1 class was designed by Inry Bodagh in 1890, alongside the K class. Just like them, these 2-6-0s were based on the Magical Quadruplets.

These moguls were used for passenger duties and the occasional goodstrain. Just like the K class, there were four engines of this class built. The prototype was finished by February 1892, alongside the prototype of the K class. Just like him, the K1 was trailed for two years, turning out to be successful. Three more were ordered in November 1894, being finished by August 1895.

By 1932, all four of them were worn out, so they were overhauled and given higher pressure boilers and belpaire fireboxes.
