the big NICKELODEON'S claim over Avatar is what first turned me off and made me think yeah they're just trying to be anime, fakers 
I've bitten my tongue. Avatar truly surprised me, not just in the animation, but the story development and characters.... In particular, Zuko and Uncle Iroh. They are easily my favorite element in Avatar. Uncle is such a humble fountain of wisdom, while Zuko is strong-willed and often blinded by pride, they balance each other perfectly.
This scene was such a beautiful depiction of humility and forgiveness it brought me to tears.
This is my first piece of fan art of Avatar, so it must be my favorite scene, or at least the one that's stuck with me the most.
medium is just a mechanical pencil (size 0.5) on sketch paper with digitally enhanced contrast. i may color this eventually, either by hand or digitally, but there's just something about raw pencil that i love.

I'm glad to see a new Avatar fan.
I think Zuko and Iroh is my favorite canon relationship in the show. I will risk being trolled and say that, honestly, Zuko and Katara is my favorite relationship ever--canon or fanon.
I find it interesting that you and I both love Zuko and Iroh, but for different reasons. I love redemption stories (as do the creators of the show, fyi). I absolutely love them, and I almost always end up falling in love with the character at the center of the redemption story. Zuko is the greatest redemption story I have seen so far. He's the most deep, dynamic, complex, well-developed character I've seen anywhere. His story of sin and redemption, and finding your own path, inspired me like few things else, and even about a year since I've last seen the show, it has still stuck with me and continues to teach me. As does his relationship with Iroh, and Iroh's love for Zuko: His humble willingness to be there for Zuko no atter what, his support and wisdom, and mostly his never ending quickness to forgive, as evidenced in this scene. When Zuko was reconciled with Iroh, I felt as though all his wrongs had finally been corrected, and he was finally completely free of his past. And, finally, he could face life, and the confrontation at hand, with a clear mind, free of the remorse that had plagued him since The Crossroads of Destiny.

Gah, this comment is so beautiful! Its bringing tears to my eyes. I completely agree with you on all points. I think Zuko is the center of this story, not Aang. Siiigh, I wish he got Katara in the end. Mai just seemed like such a cop off

I agree with you. Aang may be the protagonist, but I think Zuko is the most original, dynamic character. And he does kind of get the spotlight toward the end, in my opinion.
Ugh... I hate Mai. Don't get me started. She's horrid.
Lol, yes! I'm really trying not to get attached to Makorra before TLALOK airs and I get a chance to know the characters, but all these talented artists on DA aren't making it easy!

And I completely agree with you about Zuko, he grew so much throughout the series. Book 3 is by far my favorite, because we see him change and become himself.

Oh yes. Book 3 is my favorite as well. I love seeing Zuko finally become the hero he was always meant to be. And heal his nation, and risk his life for Katara, and apologize to Iroh, and... gah. :happcry: I just love his story.

i like that zuko and katara were never an interest to each other, it made his sacrifice to protect her in the end even more evident to his inner transformation
