I think this photo has a lot of potential! Its amazing how much detail you can get from phone cameras these days. I really love the little caterpillar or whatever bug is crawling on the leaf.
Personally I am a "Rule of Thirds" kind of person, putting the subject off center to give you a line of perspective through the piece. There is a lot of cool details in your foreground, but I think the background is a bit unnecessary here. If you brought the framing in, or even cropped it afterwards, it would allow the best parts of this photograph to shine. I think the starkness of the green leaves against the brown bedding look really nice together, and the grass in the background just kind of detracts from that a little bit for me. I did a quick crop in photoshop just to show one possibility of a way to change this up a little bit:

Hey there, and thanks for your comment! The funny thing about that little caterpillar thingy was that I thought it was just a blemish on the leaf itself until I saw it on the computer.
Also, thanks for your feedback on the rest! I do see what you mean, but what I myself liked about the background being in the piece was that you see how small this little plant is in comparison to the area around it. But your edit does look interesting! And hey, that's what makes art so great. Everyone has their own take on things.
