!!!***FULL VIEW***!!!My entry for GreatLP's contest the lineart is NOT I repeat NOT MINE, I just colored it. Learned a ton from coloring this pic. Not sure if I should put this under Pro or Ameteur. I'll probably fix a lil bit here an there when I see some mistakes, any suggestions on what I could improve on would be great.

Your shading style is reallly nice. I agree with pointless dribble on the hair. It looks fantastic. I wish I had something to point out to you, but I really can't find anything I don't like about it. Sorry. ^^
The metal looks really awesome.. I'm still trying to figure out how to shade metallic parts.. I like how you did yours.. Especially the dogtags.

Yes, i've seen the inks by GreatLP before, but you did a fantastic job of coloring this picture! I was actually thinking of coloring this one too, but you really nailed so many aspects. I would not have thought about the "Beam" of color behind each girl or the appropriate heart background.
My question is about the hair, how do you get that streaky look, like the hair is actually separate pieces? Do you draw the hair all on the same layer? What thickness of brush do you use (a small hard brush size 2 maybe? Or a spaced bristle brush?). I think that the hair is done well enoguh that you could make a tutorial about it. I would definitely find it fun to view and helpful for technique.

As for the question, the hair from what I remeber was done on 3 layers, 1 for the base color, 1 for the shades and 1 for the shine on the hair.
Hmm this was colored awhile ago so I'm not quite sure how I colored it (back when I was still messing around with coloring styles) but I'm pretty sure I just put a base color in, put the shades in then used a spaced bristle brush with the 'smudge' tool to smudge the shading around, same with the highlights, I made a white streak then smudged it up/down till i got that effect. The size of the brush depends, really cant say much on that.
Sorry it's so vague but I'll think about that tut later on once I get the time or somethin if people really want one lol.

I've been through almost all this contest's entries so far and this one is my favorite. I like the bright colors used in this one. I also really like the green shading on Buttercup's pants. The way you added the pink, blue and green, semi transparent streaks really added a 3D feel. I also like the background. It has a real Power Puff Girl feel to it. Excellent work.
To complimet the guy that drew it. The line work is really awsome.
Just two little things. Their waist is really well...to small. I'm not saying he should have made them fat or anything but...whoa. Also I guess guys asume that all women wear thongs, I mean since two out if three of the girls is wearing one.
I really do like the way the line artist can deal with perspective, however. I mean wow! That is some of the most awsome foreshortning (sp?) I have ever seen.

Thanks for the comment ^^ that really boosted up my confidence(not to sound corny but it did) as for the waists problem,(just my thought on it) if you look at it this way the girls are facing off to the sides a bit so it would look slimmer but im maybe if they faced us it would look more "right" I guess is the word my friend used. jeez I hope whatever I said made some sense lol. anyways thanks again
