Bleh, sorry for all the udpates today. Last one, I promise.
This is my entry for ยขgreatLP 's PPG Teen coloring contest. I figured that, since we're all coloring off the same lineart, I should really play with the lighting in order to make mine stand out. Defiantely not the best entry I've seen, but it was great practice for me. Hey, I'm just glad to have an excuse to color his great lineart.
I think htis is my final, refined entry for his contest, here's hoping it does well. Lineart by ยขgreatLP
Coloring by me, done in Photoshop. And, for the record, no dodge or burn was used at all.
PPG belongs to the Cartoon Network people.

It is more than decent colouring, it must have taken hours. I colour other people's lineart for practice as well but I am not that satisfied so I don't upload it.

that's a very kickass rendition of the ppg. i don't think i'd recognize them if i were to see this picture without ppg written somewhere or something like that. i think it's just the big difference between the cartoon style and yours. it's a simple style i guess and you took this giant leap of faith with it so i guess it's hard to distinguish them as the ppg because of the drastic overhaul. i don't know if you understand what i'm trying to say but either way it's very beautifully done and the colors are amazing.

That's a pretty darn cool entry and some formidable competition there. The highlighting would imply that the light source is so strong, there should be some rays of some kind coming up from the bottom to indicate that, but it's a cool effect nonetheless!

Wow, that's phenomenal coloring. I like how, through lighting and shading, that you gave each of the girls a different texture to her outfit. I love the extremes of Bubble's softness to Buttercup's sleek and shininess. Really love those vinyl pants. Shame that she's so dark that she hides in the background. Although I have to say that at least that fits with her personality. I'd also have to say that with Buttercup's pants being so shiny, it might have been nice to seen some of her sister's colors reflected in them (like the way that Bubble's tennys and socks pick up some of Blossom's pink and Blossom has green lighting all down her left).

It looks really great! The coloring is seriously bad ass- - the only thing I noticed was the background, in my opinion, is a touch dark and makes it kinda hard to see them.. but it may just be my dark ass monitor..

in places, the colouring looks a little--i'm not sure what word to use?...like the brush you used to for shading had low opacity, so when you went over things more than once the shading got more than one shade, which sometimes is fine, but in some places it looks messy and oddly textured--particularly in blossom's pants, her right leg (our left), nearish to her crotch, the shades vary and make her thigh appear somewhat deformed. bubble's stomach, a little above the naval, is another example. so i suggest smoothing out that sort of thing--but on the whole, i think the colouring is real pretty on this. good luck in the contest!

I do like this version better, but the colours on the lettering in the bling version are too cool! The only thing that kinda puzzles me is the direction of the light source...but maybe I need to look again with a bit more sleep...
