Description
A redrawn classic. The well known inspiration for this was obviously Rob Caswells [link] TI from the Rebellion Sourcebook. So blame me for the flaws and praise him for the design.
This one was drawn mostly from memory into my sketchbook while sitting on the beach of a Swedish island looking out into the Baltic Sea. Made it to visualize a scene.

Hey, I missed this one. COOL! Love your added action with the boats, air raft, and patrol cruiser!

These words coming from you mean a lot to me, thanks my friend.
I might have already pointed it out a few (hundred) times (or so...), but that original drawing of yours is one of my absolute favourite pieces of Traveller art.
And all of these favourites either involve that vessel or a patrol cruiser...
I just had to have them in a scene together

I'm honored!!!
You've got the original Bill Keith illustration too, yes?

I must admit I haven't. Any chance that you could point me to Traveller material featuring the Bill Keith original? I might have just ignored the illo. That's something I can usually do with ease...

Well it would have been in the original "Traveller Adventure" - the big 8.5x11 perfect bound book with the Bill Keith painted cover.

Should have that... So it was my ignorance, eh? Well, temporary amnesia fits better...
Page 139, the Imperiallines ship directory. And yes, you were right, I do indeed have it.
Your's was a lot easier to model, clean straight lines, and the image hit a special nerve. Though I really like the hull's dynamic flow of Bill Keith's drawing. I atempted a line drawing of that one to get a sense of it's proportions [link]
You wouldn't want to know that I even started a digital remake of your's, would you?
Render times were a major drawback, so I dropped the subject. But here's an early WIP [link]
Sorry, it's state is not anywhere near where I wanted it to be when I started.

Your encouragement might make me finish it
Honestly, I wouldn't want to ruin that special look and feel of your drawing with average quality cg.
However, if you'd agree to point me to things that could be done better during the process (lighting, color balance of textures or even things that you'd do differently now as compared to your drawing) I'd be more than happy to shoot it once again.
I'm talking of a lazy schedule here - no deadlines

Well, you cheerleading and the encouragement will boost my motivation.
I'm currently modeling a Donosev with subcraft and an atv-module for the Modular Cutter, so it might still take a while before I can continue...

Ooo! A Donosev? Cool!
That was pretty much a total Joe Fugate design, as I recall.

Yeah, I sort of like the asymetrical look of the vessel. I think it was featured in the World Builders Handbook which is not easy to get your hands on today (I wish I'd bought it back in 1990 or so). A DGP publication, so you most likely dit some art for it, didn't you?
I have the vehicles in a nearly presentable state, so I think I'll upload them to my WIP folder in a moment.

Yep, I'm sure I had stuff in World Builders.
It's really too bad all that DGP stuff got sold to Roger Sanger who promptly sat on it. It really damaged the legacy of the brand... *sigh*

So true. Twenty year old coffee stained (more likely beer stained) photocopies handed out by the GM back when need to suffice nowadays.
