Description
I entered a competition that required 3 drawings to "The ugly Duckling". I haven't received any notice for several months and I think I can do as I please with my drawings. I obviously haven't won, so yeah...Color pencils, ink and tempera on paper

Generally, I like the composition, especially the size and positions of the large swans in contrast to the little swan. They look really menacing, haha. I also like the way you rendered their feathers with a few strokes of white.. minimalistic but enough to capture the feather details well.
Although the flowers at the back seem to have really long stalks, they fill the empty space at the top right corner. XD
Compared to the other characters in the picture, the two chicks seem to look rather stiff/flat because of their poses. If you don't want to make them take the focus away from the swans, maybe positioning them in between the larger swans like they're trying to squeeze through to bully the little swan might be more effective in creating more tension.

Yeah, I agree about the little ones :/ I wasn't too happy with how they turned out, but I hadn't thought of positioning them the way you mentioned. Probably would've worked better.
For the flowers in the background, i wanted to have a more ornamental-like rather than realistic feeling. We had similar flowers in our garden with long stalks and flat tops and they reminded me of the floral ornaments in art nouveau posters.

Knew someone would appreciate them ^^ I also find them kinda cool. I think the flowers were the only detail that I stuck to while "browsing" for ideas in my head. Inspired by some flowers in our garden, though they were white

Hmm, forgot to mention this before, but I like how cute the swans, chicks and duck are xD It seems they have an expression and are smiling. Totally suitable for a children's illustration book. It gives off a nice feeling
